Hi everyone,

so I married my fiancé a week ago. Planning on doing the green card test by the doctor. What else should I do? What forms and should I add story? How long does it take for the whole process? Please let me know if anyone can help.

thanks

What Visa are you adjusting from? Your timeline says F-1, is that correct? Marrying and adjusting status so quick after entering on a F1 could raise some suspicions.

Here you can find the guides https://www.visajourney.com/guides/ also read up on it on the USCIS homepage.

What do you mean with greencard test? The medical?

Please be clear or have your spouse write this out.

Is your spouse American? Are you adjusting status? If so from what visa?

What is this green card test you speak of?

Without knowing the above it is not possible to give you advice on what forms to file or the length of the process.

Edit; I just looked at your timeline: so you entered The US about 5 weeks on a non immigrate student visa and now you want to apply for adjustment of status? 🤦‍♀️ No wonder it took you 3 years to obtain the student visa

So I entered USA on fiancé visa, and I got married and now I need to apply for a green card. I’m not sure what are the steps for it. I might chose the wrong description.

thanks in advance

Hey, reading you reply it says that you entered on a K1 fiancé visa. You shouldn’t need another medical because it should have been done in your home country before you came to the US, so I wouldn’t worry about doing that.

You’re next step would be to file the i485 (adjustment of status)

you can also file I131 (advanced parole travel document) and i765 (employment authorization document) - these two forms are free when filed along with your adjustment of status 🙂

Thank you for clarifying 🙂 please change/update your visa journey profile to k1 when you can otherwise this will cause us a lot of confusion.
You will be filing for adjustment of status.
1. I-485 AOS
2. I-944- this may or may not be suspended at the moment.
3. I-864 - affidavit of support
4. I-765 (optional) work permit- highly recommend
5. I-131 (optional) advanced parole- ability to travel- highly recommended
6. G-1145 (optional)

You and your wife should review the guides here but as always check out the official USCIS website for updated information
