No harm in withdrawing itself.

Anything that you did file could be retrieved at a later time. No idea if this is an issue for you.

Playing devil's advocate, if one were to provide false information or otherwise has issues that would be cause for removal, that information can still be used against them.

If the issue is you just changed your mind or were ineligible or something, then that would not be an issue.

No refunds. :D

I was going to say the same thing that is bolded.

@flyryour reason for withdrawing I hope is a good one. This is $725 of somebody’s hard earned cash going down the drain. In my opinion, you should think really hard about whether or not you want citizenship. After October 2, the fee for citizenship will be $1160 (online filing), or $1170 (paper filing). I would hate for you to have spent $725 and then withdraw your current application, then change your mind down the line and have to pay the new fee.

Reason to file now:  long lead time by now (years at this point) so might as well get my place in line. Application Money isn’t lost if price almost doubles).    Reason for *not* naturalizIng  is if the family and I decide to move abroad.   My american spouse has been talking to me about wanting to move to Canada *some day*. Whether that’s retirement (many years out) or sooner (next few years ) is still up for debate.   Lots of things Happening in the states. Election etc etc. safety overall.  Covid response across the border has been a good example of the differences.    Thanks guys.

anyway. If we do move to Canada id prefer not to be subject to US tax compliance etc.

Unless you formally abandon your green card status, you will still be subject to us tax compliance even if you are in Canada. And of course your American spouse will have to comply anyway.
