Hi All,

Sorry but I am confused with packet 3

I got the letter asking to print out the forms:

DS-230 Part 1 (pages 1 and 2 only)

DS-156 - In Duplicate, do not sign the form

DS-156K

Now, WHY do i not sign the form, I know you don't sign DS-156K, cause it says so on the form, but DS-156 says to sign it on the form, so why on the packet does it say, don't sign and what does in duplicate mean?

Also, last thing, it says send off the forms straight away, but then it asks you to check off all your documents, well I don't have my police record yet, I have sent off for it but I don't have it yet, so I can't send off the forms straight away right?

HELP :help:

I don't know what it will be like at your consulate but for Montreal where I had to go, you didn't sign either the 156 or the 156K. We had to sign them in front of the interviewer. If I remember correctly you send the 230 back as soon as possible and then your checklist when you have obtained everything else.

Best of luck to you..this process can get so confusing.

hmm, I'm going through montreal and it doesn't say on my letter to not sign the forms...

LOL they must be really unorganized because it said that on mine.

I HATE miles, gallons, pints, words spelled without u's, and all that other jazz...

Hey specialfrances,

Duplicate means you need two copies of DS-156. Does it say send all the forms (DS-230 pt 1, DS-156, DS-156K) on your checklist? I know the Vancouver Packet 3 says only the DS-230 pt 1 needs to be faxed in.

If you don't need to send the UK consulate the DS-156 and DS-156K ahead of your interview, I suggest that you leave it unsigned till then. Since you'll need to sign DS-156K in front of the officer anyway, it won't take any more time to sign the other two.

Depending on when your interview can be scheduled and how long it takes to get a police certificate, I'd tentatively say that you were alright to send your checklist in, as long as you're absolutely certain that you can get it before the interview. No sense in waiting to send that checklist off if you're certain that it's on the way.

Good luck to you!

Thanks guys for the respone!

It asks for all forms yes, i just kinda thought it was odd, not signing it, but you have made me realise that you sign them there in the interview.

I want to send it in now, its just the police record i am waiting on and Matt's (my fiance) form to prove he can support me, but he is doing that today, so i guess it is just the police record.

Why on earth it takes 40 days to come through is amazing!!
