Consulate interview in a different country?

Hello,

 

My fiance is in Russia, where it seems there are huge consulate interview scheduling delays.

Can we request (in a 129f form) a different country, for example, Turkey?

If so, can the medical exam be done in a home country?

He can interview anywhere he holds citizenship or legal residency.

He cannot interview in Turkey without either of those (i.e. you can't go as a tourist to interview there).

 

The medical will be in the country where you interview.

When there were major interview scheduling delays in Russia in 2017 and 2018, some nearby countries were accepting transfers without much reason for it. That backlog largely cleared up, and there weren't any major delays getting K-1 interviews in Moscow after the first few months of 2019 (my wife was able to schedule hers shortly after the New Year's holiday in 2019 for February, and the Russia subforum here didn't have any reports of inability to schedule interviews in Moscow until the COVID-19 shutdown).

 

Right now there are interview scheduling delays in Russia because the embassy in Moscow (and the other consulates, but those don't handle K-1s) hasn't re-opened for routine visa services yet, and every embassy and consulate that does immigrant visa interviews is probably backed up (unless they just don't do very many), and K-1s are considered lower priority than some other visa types at embassies that have resumed limited immigrant/immigrant-intent visa interviews. So it's not likely you'll be able to easily get your case transfered elsewhere.
