no, i never have heard a sonic boom before....

Atlantis' return from NASA's first manned flight of the year was marked by its trademark twin sonic booms that were heard from San Diego to Los Angeles. After deploying its parachute, the shuttle came to rest on the concrete runway under mostly sunny skies.

yeah that is what I figured after I turned on the TV...

It freaked me out because I thought it was an earthquake... I have only felt one earthquake since moving here and this felt totally different....

That's kind of cool, actually, hearing the sonic booms from the shuttle landing:-). Glad it wasn't an earthquake and glad it was a picture perfect landing for Atlantis.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Now here you can tell non of you grew up in the sixties when sonic booms from fighter jets and bombers were nearly an everyday occurance. Since that time they have been told to travel slower because of all the complaints that occured. Heck if you were in the right location and the boom was strong enough it would break windows.
