Apply as soon as you get the marriage certificate

understand you need to have filed US tax returns even when working out of the US or need to file for the letter from IRS saying you did not need to file

u also have to meet the income requirements to sponsor your wife

and a US residency (like proofs of US bank account,  driving license, etc)

i already asked on this forum about income, i'm retired and living on savings but have about 300k in 401K/IRA accounts. also i can get my son to co sponsor and he makes a boat load of money.

US residency is a bit of a problem, is that necessary? i am registered to vote and will vote absentee in Nov. i have a CA driving license but it expired and i haven't been able to get back to the US to renew because or corona (i can go to the US but can't get back to Thailand if i leave). i did file a tax return for 2019 listing my 401k withdrawal as income. i will do the same for 2020 but i don't  think i can do that until next spring.

i haven't really lived in the US for more than a couple of months per year for the last 15 years or so, is that an issue? what should i do?

thx

Don't know about Bangkok embassy in particular, but each embassy varies. For example, Montreal is strict about the U.S. domicile requirement while some other embassies tend to accept the intent of reestablishing U.S. domicile.

Are you planning on moving back or just getting her a greencard to travel? That isn’t how it works. A greencard is to LIVE in America is that your plan?

Its much better if you wait for 2 yrs i mean you can apply after 1 in half year you got married because its take 1 year to process all the paper works.by the time you got the visa you its 2 yrs married allready and they will give you cr2 for your wife and ir2 for the kids. And she got  10 yrs. Green card. No need to apply for removal of condition form i -751.

I came here cr1 now i apply for 10 years green card dec. 2017,i do my finger prints last jan. 2018. And they send me 18th month extension. And my 18th month extension expired. So i call uscis and they give me an appoitment last thursday at the uscis. They just staml my pasport 12 more month extension and i ask  why my 10 yrs. Gc not yet arrived they said i need to go for interview.

yes, we'll move to US and work, but getting her a green card and ultimately passport is going to make it so much easier than traveling on a Thai passport. i know so long as we are in the US more than 6 months/year we have no problem with green card
