I was well aware. But. As I find with a lot of people on this forum is that they only wag the finger when they don’t have to deal with it.

Life is full of choices and consequences.......most of us have had to deal with a lot of things....like separation from spouses for a year or more.....

I see a lot of people saying that the AOS fees will hurt the pocketbook, but I feel that travel to another country to get married will also be incredibly expensive. The flights. The hotel. I spent a considerable amount of money last week going to Turkey to see my fiancé.

And i had to make 5 trips to satisify immigration so i know the cost

1  month of june 2009

2  months march and april to marry 2010

1  month of November for honeymoon as noted in USCIS i had to prove

3 months in 2011

3 more months in 2014/15

but all of us have had to do this and the cost can be outrageous

i just feel for all going thru it now

all this hurts all of us even those of us who have finished the original visa and just want families to visit

i am just glad we got thru it all before all the fee increases

and really glad my great grandparents came here long before all this visa #######

Anyways, how do you even go about calling a congressman?

You call their office and leave a comment to be passed on. If it is or not who knows. But at least there is an attempt at action

If people are really concerned about the costs of AOS, ROC, etc., then they didn't understand that the immigration process requires a great deal of knowledge, planning, time, patience,...and money.

I think many don't understand it when i read all the posts here saying someone needs a joint sponsor

When I lived in Arkansas, I had a Congressman who gave me his personal cell phone number.  Once, I decided to try to give him a call.  He immediately answered.......He was a really good guy......

Same here many years ago I had to rely on my Congressman and he got sh$t done and everything moving along.

I fully support everyone putting pressure on their congress person especially with the pending USCIS shutdown which will create even more havoc.

The United States is now a country obsessed with the worship of its own ignorance.  Americans are proud of not knowing things.  They have reached a point where ignorance, is an actual virtue.  To reject the advice of experts is to assert autonomy, a way for Americans to insulate their increasingly fragile egos from ever being told they're wrong about anything.  It is a new Declaration of Independence: no longer do we hold these truths to be self-evident, we hold all truths to be self-evident, even the ones that arent true.  All things are knowable and every opinion on any subject is as good as any other.  The fundamental knowledge of the average American is now so low that it has crashed through the floor of "uninformed", passed "misinformed", on the way down, and now plummeting to "aggressively wrong."

Almost everyone posting has been through the process you are going through. No, most didn't have to deal with Covid prolonging the separation from a loved one, but the fact is you are going through one of the easiest embassies. Some embassies have much longer wait times even before Covid.

Everyone that is on this immigration journey is being affected. My wife will be going to her citizenship oath ceremony next week, and I can't see it. I have to wait outside.

I was hoping to at least have a drive through ceremony, but we are just glad to complete this journey, and she is very excited about being able to vote.
