One Way Travel Insurance

For those that have already left the U.K. and arrived on a spouse visa 

 

• Did you buy one way travel insurance?

• Who did you purchase with?

• How long did you arrange cover for? (I was thinking 1 month to give enough time for my husband to get us added to his medical insurance etc...)

 

I did a quick google search and there were so many companies and random names of insurers I’d never come across so I thought I’d ask here if anyone had experience of using anyone in particular?

Hi I just want to point out you should read the terms of the travel insurance- many are not valid for intending immigrants so it would not cover you. 
As far as you being added to your husbands insurance I suggest he have the paperwork done and submitted the day or day after you arrive so you don’t have a gap. Immigration is a qualifying life event and he will have a certain amount of days to add you. It should also be cheaper in the long run 🙂 (depending what you are quoted by the travel insurance)

My husband did purchase one way travel insurance, but under the terms of the insurance because he was immigrating, the coverage is generally only for a period of 24-48hrs. There may be some plans that offer longer, but I can't imagine the coverage being good. No clue what company it was with, but iirc it was one of the major insurers he always used and required talking to an agent. Such polices may be affected by new restrictions because of the pandemic.
