Hello, everyone.

i was wondering if anyone here has had any experiences using Honolulu International Airport (Daniel Inouye Airport) as their point of entry into the US. What was the immigration interview/wait like? I appreciate all answers and advice.

Thank you.

Interactions with CBP officers vary by person and circumstance, not by port of entry.  If you have a connecting flight, it's wise to allow 3 or 5 hours connection time.

I would beg to differ.  I would say LAX is worst for CBP officers. Both coming into the USA and trying to leave

Nonsense.  The context is entry with an immigrant visa.  CBP officers are not involved in the process of leaving the USA.

Incorrect

Had them try to get gf to go back home when coming in on a K1 Visa, Had her crying and another girl crying as well.  Spent around 30 minutes of this nonsense due to petitioner having an arrest record for fighting. Both girls were K1's from Philippines.

I personally saw officers waiting on the boarding deck after you do your final tickets check and go to enter the plane, they were detaining and asking leaving passengers questions regarding them trying to leave and what they were doing here and if they had worked here.

Was that at LAX?

I guess no one has gone through Honolulu. It is a port-of-entry, right?

That would be a rare occurrence for presumably a specific reason, which reason would not be LAX specific.

Yes, both times were at LAX.  I saw them harassing Philippines Citizens on a plane going to Philippines, they were pulling them aside and asking them if they had worked while being in the USA.  Me and my nephew told them to leave these people alone they are trying to leave the the USA, not enter.  This was year 2007.

The harassments of incoming gf was in 2012, So I would say that's a pattern.  For me I no longer go thru LAX, if I have to go to east coast for international departure I use SFO instead, So much cleaner, nicer and friendlier airport.

My last entry with my fiance was in Detroit, it was easy process, but the CBP officer asked me for some strange reason if I paid my taxes, I said of course I did, it was part of my requirement for the K1 visa at the embassy I had just went thru, then she told me after I get married to go to my local USCIS office in my region and do Adjustment of Status there. I said OK and went on thru the line.

Well, both time took place in LAX, you figure it out.

I have traveled in and out of the USA and hit many places all over the USA as my entry point or exit point, and LAX is the only place I have seen nonsense going on with CBP.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."
