Hi there,

Hope everyone is doing well. I have a few questions. How soon after submitting documents to NVC for a child under 21 can you request to expedite the case? Our daughter is 11yrs old. Its been 5 years seen we last seen her, she haven't met her baby sister.  We miss her dearly. On my way home from work she called me asking about her case and said she has been doing some research on the case and read that in some cases doesn't get approved. She then asked me if she case could be expedited. I was surprised. My stomach been in nots since I got home. Should I wait for NVC to review the documents before requesting our caes to be expedited or should I go ahead and request our case to be expedited? Both girls are excited to meet each other and we're ready to have them both under one roof.

You can try to expedite, but you need to have a valid reason to doing so. To put in a request, email NVC with your case number asking for an expedite as well as the reason for your expedite. They will pass it along to the embassy and it will be up to the embassy to approve the request or not (with COVID going on, they may not). Keep in mind, an expedite doesn't make your case any more likely to be approved, it only will get you an interview sooner. Also, at NVC stage, your case will never be straight up "declined", at this stage they will simply review your documents and DQ you and forward your case to the embassy for interview if you have them all there and correct, and request additional/replacement documents if they aren't correct or there are documents missing, so you don't really have to worry about anything not being "approved" at NVC stage except for that it'll take them extra time to review your documents again

Just a heads up, I tried to expedite my 11 year old's case twice and was denied twice.  Once I asked due to the extremely high crime area she lives in and which our own government says to not enter into and the second was to have her be able to start school here in September along with all the other children.  It's definitely worth asking because the worst outcome would be a no and you have to wait a little longer.  Wishing you success in your request!!

I didn't bother to expedite. We submitted all our documents July 31st. Got 2 RFE for my husband's 2019 tax return and our co sponsor passport. The one we uploaded quality wasn't good. Probably won't hear anything back until September. Praying everything else will go smoothly.
