We just received the biometrics appointment for my wife. It's dated for yesterday! So we missed an appointment we didn't know about. What do we do? Reschedule? It says walk ins are only for military and uscis is 5 hours away, so I don't want to drive all the way over there just to be turned down.

Whoa, was the appointment letter late because your post office was super delayed from COVID? Have you tried calling the main USCIS customer phone number?

I'm on hold right now. 60 plus minute wait time.

I think the biometrics letter also has instructions on the bottom for rescheduling. Not your fault so do what you need to in order to reschedule. They need to manage their notification system better. I also know USPS has been slow due to COVID.

A friend of mine almost missed his naturalization ceremony. He didn't receive any updates through text or email. He simply happened to check his mailbox and the letter was in there and the ceremony was scheduled for the very next day!

Exactly what happened with this. Immigration letter in the mail, day after the appointment. But it's considered abandoned if you miss the appointment so I want to make sure we're OK. I can send the reschedule thing tomorrow, but I'd like to talk to someone.

Too bad it's so far away, or I would advice you to just show up and get it done. You have a reference number and the field office was contacted, I highly doubt they would turn you away after everything you tried and since it wasn't your fault in the first place.

Customer service contacted my field office and I have a reference number. They have 30 days to respond. What's interesting is the envelope is first class mail stamped the 3rd. It's supposed to be one to three days, but it took quite a few more days than that.

Hmm it makes me think your letter unfortunately fell through the cracks by the post office workers. I also would say that you could try doing a walk-in if you're able to. It's crazy that their office is 5 hours away for you.

So many people missed their biometrics appointment then showed up and getting done. So don't worry.

Who are these people? Was it during covid? Because generally you can't miss appointments. Mines a bit different, we didn't just miss it we didn't get the notice on time.

I live in Montana 4th biggest state and we only have the 1 office. They should allow us to do it a social security office or something.

They are petitions like you and me. It's worked with them before. i don't know during this pandemic but you can tell them the reason. By the way you can search on this forum with keyword "missing biometrics", you will see so many cases like yours and they did that

But not during covid. That's the difference.
