Mobs generally don't respect authority, but for the most part the authorities been doing a good job handling it so far when there is competent leadership and aggressive action. Backup by the guard is also typical. It's not like B'more hasn't been through this stuff before. When things got chaotic, it wasn't kids with guns that showed up to 'help' where they were not wanted - pastors and elders and even (strangely) gang leaders grabbed looters by their hair and threw them out of buildings. Mothers and fathers came down to spank the heck out of their teenage kids and embarrass them on tv. The guard and the police handled the rest.

 

 

Yeah, the Kenosha authorities have been doing a good job.  This was three days ago, so I am sure the numbers have increased.

oooh he's such a lawbreaker!  a Class A misdemeanor!

i wonder how that compares on the scale  to assault with a deadly weapon and a convicted felon in possession of a firearm........

The law is the law. He didn't belong there with the weapon, and he killed people. You think it's self defense, I don't. Don't think either one of us will be getting on that jury.

So he wasn't 18.  That's a misdemeanor, and will get thrown out in light of the threat to his life.  He defended himself, and fairly well.

 

Since when has it become illegal to cross state lines?  I do it all the time.  And it seems the group he was with was working against violent rioters, so good on them, it true.

Actually, based on what was posted, he did try to turn himself in, but was ignored by the police which is understandable considering the unruly mobs they were dealing with.  To me this seems cut and dry self-defense because once he took action, the mobs backed off and he did not continue to try and kill the idiots.  I would also be bad on this jury if the prosecutor was charging murder.

Yeah, you can really see how unwanted by the police they are, right after that group had helped the police by cleaning up graffiti minutes before the shooting:

Correct me if I am wrong, if they want to bring in the crossing state lines thing, don't they need to bring in the Feds?

My first jury duty case was of this punk kid (total druggie thug) that thought (in his drugged stupor) that someone was 'camping' out in his relative's shed so he tried to turn his defense into "I was just defending my property". His relative (that owned the property) allowed the homeless crackheads to live there all the time so it wasn't unusual (really the kid just had a gang dispute and probably wanted the guy's drugs and money). He went out to threaten them with a gun (he didn't belong having) instead of calling the police, and when they laughed at him he killed them. Absolutely awful entitled kid that they wanted you to overlook his priors. And I told the judge while the defense watched me, just how I felt about the situation. He didn't belong having the gun, why didn't he call the police, and the man was unarmed and there were no signs of struggle. I wasn't buying it. Thankfully the defense scratched me real quick.

 

Everyone is very quick to jump on stories these days not too much unlike the media mob hype. I'm not convinced here, I'm just not.

Absolutely.  However, I saw nothing in Kyle's situation to warrant federal law involvement.  Then again, this IS 2020, so perhaps we shall see a few more strange happenings.  Never in my lifetime have I seen people "in charge" allow all this rioting and looting to continue unabated.  It's mind-boggling.

 

Oh, you were talking about the BLM gas-delivery service.  Dunno if the feds will have reason to step in.  Domestic terrorism should be pretty easy to prove though.
