Maybe these folks should be charged with attempted 1st degree murder as well.

 

"The intentional fire set Monday evening in an organized, pre-planned attack endangered the lives of our officers and our entire community," said Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best in a statement. "This was not a peaceful protest, or demonstration for equity, but an act of lawlessness."

David-Pitts had arrived in Seattle from Alaska three days before Monday’s protest, according to the criminal complaint released Thursday. 

After marching with the group in downtown Seattle, he is allegedly seen on surveillance video piling up trash against a door to the East Precinct. The video captured David-Pitts repeatedly lighting the trash on fire and feeding the flames with more trash, court documents said.

While that was happening, court documents said other people who appeared on the surveillance video were trying to use crowbars and cement-like materials to allegedly try and disable the East Precinct door to keep officers from getting out. David-Pitts appeared to be communicating with the other members of the group, according to court documents.

two of the individuals in this story were not only charged (in the past), but convicted.  yet you ignore that part of the story.

Not ignoring that at all, but he didn't shoot those people because of their past convictions. Replace those individuals with anyone without a criminal conviction and he still took multiple persons lives. He was charged with murder, and will likely be charged on state and federal weapons crimes, and a jury will have to determine the rest. I am not convinced in self defense.

In OUR world, law enforcement can and should be handling the situation. Not a 17 year old child with an illegal firearm that has no right to be there, brandishing a weapon, and shooting people because he thinks he has some magic police powers. The police did not want those people there any more than they wanted rioters. I think the police chief explained that pretty clearly.

Mob chasing a guy, looks like someone fired a weapon at him, another throwing an incendiary device at him, others swarming him when falling, hitting him with objects (e.g. skateboard), pointing a gun at him, totally not convinced its self defense yo. 😃

 

Shoulda just got beat down/killed and called the cops, extricating his body is kinda what they're for! Protecting yourself, bad!

Yes, he shot them because he was threatened with bodily injury by a mob.  If he simply wanted to kill people why didn't he just start shooting at these rioters when he arrived.  The court system will proceed, the 1st degree charge appears over-the-top and came even before the investigation was completed, but maybe the prosecutor is a Soros backed prosecutor.

Yeah, see my post about the attempted murder of the Seattle cops in their building.  These mobs do not respect any authority.  I will say that the cops in the big hot spots are showing a lot of restraint.  The police chief may not have wanted them there, but it appears the police on the ground did and the property/business owners that were seeing everything destroyed with no help from the police and elected Democrat leaders probably wanted them there.

And if he shot at people attacking him, one of which pointed a gun at him, why would he face a murder charge?  Sounds like self-defense to me.

Yeah, the guy from Alaska is facing a Federal charge now.  Maybe Joe Biden will pardon him if he wins in November.

He shot them with a weapon he didn't belong possessing. I think there is good evidence to convince a jury that it was not self defense, and there are plenty of even conservative folks that think the same. Such individuals do not help any cause any more than rioters do.

Mobs generally don't respect authority, but for the most part the authorities been doing a good job handling it so far when there is competent leadership and aggressive action. Backup by the guard is also typical. It's not like B'more hasn't been through this stuff before. When things got chaotic, it wasn't kids with guns that showed up to 'help' where they were not wanted - pastors and elders and even (strangely) gang leaders grabbed looters by their hair and threw them out of buildings. Mothers and fathers came down to spank the heck out of their teenage kids and embarrass them on tv. The guard and the police handled the rest.

no right to be there?  what, was there checkpoints where he didn't show his papers?

Right? 1st degree is premeditated deliberate homicide. There's no proof of deliberate let alone premeditated. In fact, the one who had a gun on him and got his arm partially blown off regretted not killing the guy.. another genius move.
