'Many' mob members from Capitol rioting will be prosecuted: Cuccinelli

'Until we have agreement left and right, that violence is never allowable, then it's going to continue'

Acting Homeland Security Deputy Secretary Ken Cuccinelli said Thursday he believed "many" of the mob members who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday will be brought to justice.

"I think many of the [mob] will [be held accountable], yes," he told "America's Newsroom." "There are limits on our ability to identify folks, but to the extent we can, I presume folks will be prosecuted; that ultimately comes to the prosecutors. We at the Department of Homeland Security have urged prosecutors all across the country, state and federal, to take every single one of these cases. Because until you do, until we have agreement left and right, that violence is never allowable, ever allowable, then it's going to continue."

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Isn't that the state of our current political actors on both sides?

as a registered independent, no its not.

one side is invariably more reasonable than the other and is actually being pushed way too far trying to meet in the middle with people who are moving too far and too fast away from any point of compromise.

you do realize there was a noose and hanging deck at the capital and that people stormed government chambers with zip ties to kidnap and hold people hostage right?

thats way past "difference of opinion"

Precisely the stuff Antifa and BLM say. Meeting in the middle is too far and too fast away from compromise! I don't see how the pointless act of condemnation is extreme in any way nor beyond compromise. If people can't even find common ground in conveying disgust for extremism regardless of the side, it's clear who the extremists are.

And just to build on these comments... yes, there lots of protesters outside who did not breach the capital. Good for them. Were they out there condemning the breach? No. They were celebrating it. Let's not pretend these were the actions of a few individuals. Starting with their terrorist leader standing behind bullet proof glass before skulking back to the WH, who ginned them up and egged them on for hours, and encouraged by Republican leaders such as Louie Gohmert. And all of this after weeks of knowingly pushing the false narrative of election fraud. The two "sides" are not even close to being "just as bad." The Republican Party has become a cult of personality and a mob of sycophantic terrorists. If you identify as a Republican, take your party back.

Yep, one side is more reasonable.  I wonder which side that is.  I already condemned the actions of yesterday, but of course that is not enough for some folks.  Are you willing to condemn the folks rioting all year (simply go back in the history of this thread) using incendiary devices to try and kill people?

Rioters who breached the Capitol -> everyone standing outside -> Trump -> people contesting the election

Goalposts wide enough for fans in the stands to sit on.

Here's a hint, if you find yourself including everyone that disagrees with you in this act, there's a problem and its not everyone else.

Yep, along with that it was a discussion regarding hypocrisy.

Nobody here (well... one guy, but he doesn't seem to be around anymore) supports violence. You know that, and you know that the regulars here (left, right, center) have all condemned violence. You know that.

I don't include everyone I disagree with. I include everyone who is culpable. If you don't think the President had a role in inciting this mob, you weren't paying attention.

I have seen a lot of folks justify some of the political rioting that has gone on for more than half of the year here.

yday was akin to 9/11 in many ways. people will not be able to visit the capitol/white house for months, perhaps years at this point. i remember in 4th grade when my school's trip to the white house / dc was cancelled because of 9/11. we heard so many sirens through the night last night. its sickening. i have never heard that before with "antifa". yday revealed so many weaknesses in america's structure.

to see a black cop practically running for his life from an angry white mob yday after years of hearing the "respect authority" crowd say its not a racial thing was peak irony. nothing that happened this years or years previous was never about respecting authority or following the law.

people have condemned that though

why do you think a target being looted is on the same level as a group literally planning to kidnap hundreds of people and hang them? do you think it deserves the same level of attention/condemnation

you probably think of yourself as "pro-life" too lololol
