And if you're going to talk about the riot in the capital, talk about the riot in the capital. Comparing it to some other boogyman to make it seem like just another day is disingenuous.

I don't believe there were any plants in the riots yesterday.  I believe there were angry people that were made even more angry by Trump.  What they did was wrong and I have no sympathy for any of them.  I don't care if they were shot or if they serve prison time.  What they did was wrong.

 

However, we are on the topic of riots.  The BLM riots were more widespread and were also consistently violent.  But, like you said, the vast majority of the people participating were not at all violent.  You could really see a change in behavior once the sun went down each night.  I firmly believe that those who were involved in the looting had no interest in the BLM movement, they were simply criminals.  I don't believe the continuing riots in Portland have any connection to the BLM movement.  They just use BLM as a cover for their criminal activity.

 

We have to get back to a place where this activity is not accepted in any form, for any reason.

Comparison is a tool that will always be used.  Now depending on one's stance on either item being compared there may be a way to see if there is any hypocrisy being displayed.   Quite a bit of that occurring yesterday.

Comparison isn't the problem. Using one thing to diminish the other thing is the problem. By comparing the capital hill riots to BLM, you're (generic "you're") signaling that hey, the other side did it so it's not so bad.

 

I don't have to explain this though. Everyone here knows what I'm talking about. Why not just some straight up condemnation of the rioters and the leader(s) who urged them to violence? Period. Full stop.

The reports that I've seen, including one testimony by a republican, stated that the protesters mobbed and breached a secure area, she was the first one charging through the window and towards him. The officer had already discussed with those he was protecting that he might have to shoot someone. He did so... and we should be proud of the courage he showed, as he was very much outnumbered.

 

The other deaths appear to be those who were crushed/trampled to death or had heart attacks. Some of the officers were also severely beaten and injured.

I believe the condemnation came yesterday, but maybe you aren't willing to look at, or accept that.  The condemnation is the same for the idiots yesterday as it would be for anyone that riots for political purposes.  The people there yesterday that broke the law, assaulted law enforcement, etc., should be prosecuted to the fullest extent, and if Congress wants to impeach Trump over it, I certainly would not stand in their way.  That being said, this is not the first time the capitol complex has been breached for political reasons, and those other times also had political leadership instigating the protesters on.  The outcome should be the same for any political riot regardless of which corner of this country it appears in.

Condemnation is good when it remains condemnation. If you condemn it one day, and then whatabout it the next day, you don't get credit for saying you condemned it. (again, using generic "you")

i think its evil when these people know they are lying but wont back down bc of politics or trying to win voters and 4 people end up losing their lives for believing them and a whole city is affected by their lives for +2 weeks.
