This really breaks my heart.  Not that any of the news about riots has been good, but this is truly terrible.

More on this tragic story.  Gardner was shoved to the street by a group of "peaceful protesters", and fired his gun twice as they were trying to beat him.  He killed Scurlock with one of those two shots.  He was found to be not guilty because he was protecting his own life.

Gardner went to CA after learning of the decision by the grand jury to convict him, after no charges being pressed, of manslaughter, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, attempted first-degree assault and terroristic threats.  He had hired a bodyguard because of the threats on social media, which had convicted him even before the grand jury decided to try him.
