Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie here at VJ. I just wanted to know if any March filers for the I130 were approved yet. I filed early March and received my NOA1 around March 11. When I registered there was a message that stated the my application should be adjudicated around September 13. I have seen people's timelines and they have been approved in about 3 months. Just wanted to know if the time process for the I130 is 6 months or does it depend on the case. I"m a USC.

I filed my I-130 in early March and then my I-129F a couple weeks later. No approvals on either one yet. I have seen many other people with I-130s approved who filed in March also, though. Just depends on the case I guess.

Wife's visa journey:

03/19/07: Initial mailing of I-129F.

07/07/11: U.S. Citizenship approved and Oath Ceremony!

MIL's visa journey:

07/26/11: Initial mailing of I-130.

05/22/12: Interview passed!

Greenclipse,

On June 12 I called via the RFE trick. All they said was that no RFE had been requested and that my case was still pending. I called again on Wednesday and I was told that USCIS is making alot of changes so it may take about 6 months and that they are currently working on December applications. So I've been a little confused about it since I've seen other approvals.

Yes, that's the "official" time scale, but as you can see, it doesn't mean much. I contacted my congressman and they checked on my file and game me the same line. I've read that that date represents the *oldest* file they're working on, so it's a kind of worst-case scenerio. There isn't really much to do. They seem to have over extended themselves, or who knows, maybe they took agents away from Immigration to work on Passports, which is an even bigger mess and can cost more votes. I feel like one of those alien toys on Toy Story who wait to be selected by some kid - they think it's some sort of magical process, but it's really just a stupid kid putting a quarter in and the machine selecting them over some other toy.

Lili, I found a thourough definition on this site re being "touched."

You need to register here: https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp

Create/Edit customer portfolio account

Any time your application is handled by someone at a Service Center, the barcode is scanned, which results in an update to the "last date" for your case on the USCIS website. When the date changes, this mean that someone has physically handled or "touched" your case. There are many reasons your application may be "touched" - from simply being moved from one desk to another, to RFE's, to being approved.

There are 2 kinds of touches. There are the ones that show some kind of update, there are the ones that don't bring a new message. By logging into the account, take a look at the date that shows next to your case number. If it's changed, you've been touched.

By clicking on the case number, you get to check whether it was an update touch or not. The ones that don't show updates are connected with some kind of work done with regard to your case - it merely shows that they've taken a look at it somehow.
