I just saw this memo on the USCIS website.

Most forms will be sent directly to the office where they will be adjudicated.

They never mention anything about the I-130 and where it needs to be filed. Lots of folks here adjust from other visas and file I-130 concurrently with I-485. May be we might have to send I-130 to Chicago Lockbox and other forms at the local office (kind of defeats the purpose I think this way).

hmmm... I am a little confused. It does mention filing employment based adjustment applications, but does not mention family based AOS. It does however, mention visa filing location changes.

Would this be better notified in the K1 or K3 forum?

The lack of mention of I-130 would suggest to me that this change only affects employment based AOS, although I could very well be wrong. I think we should continue to tell people to send stuff to Chicago Lockbox until we have a clear answer on this.

I presume that they will update the forms to reflect this change, so hopefully that will make it more clear.

Yes, a 2nd read of the release and I interpret it this way also.

I guess we will find out when they publish the new directions for the forms. Until then we can only keep a lookout for the forms.

Yes, this confused me too. But after reading it a couple of times more I agree with Laura and Dr_LHA that this probably applies to non-family based AOS.

I hope USCIS will have subsequent postings/news items clarifying this.

You could always call the Information line. I am SURE that they will have the answer to this!
