that is not correct, many people have claimed they did not expedite but their interview was cancelled in March/April and it was scheduled by the Consulate for December 2020/January 2021. I repeat these people are not sending inquiries or expedites.

I think the announcement is just to discourage people from sending yet more expedites/inquiries.

I've read things like *I was approved after my 8th inquiry*. 😣

Has anyone else from this thread received a new interview?

From where I sit, the official announcement about it needing to be also eligible for an emergency appointment seems fairly correct, as it doesn't seem like that many people have been called back in at all.

Our case on the CEAC website has not been updated since March 18, 2020, when the original appointment was cancelled.

This seems to me like a very small trickle of people who got called back in, with the majority being ignored. Of course any bit of hope at this point is good, but it seems the overwhelming majority of us are still waiting and without any info. I emailed the consulate over a dozen times and only ever got an automated response, even when pleading for a real answer (has worked before to het an actual person to respond).

My fear now is that the state of Chihuahua will go back into red through the winter and they'll use that as a reason to shut the consulate for even longer and delay us all even more.

Sorry if I'm being a downer, but this truly abhorrently handled, and they are toying with all of our lives without any transparency or accountability. There are ways that they can still be processing interviews in a manner that is safe for COVID, if they really wanted to.

Hang in there I'm sure your interview will be scheduled soon! I have seen only one or two people on this site who's interview was rescheduled. But a lot more on the facebook groups.

I am not nearly as optimistic on this - I understand the point of trying to keep a positive outlook - but in reality it does not seem likely based on all data I have to go on and how they have been handling (botching) the entire thing so far.

El Paso is also in a very bad situation right now and I'm sure staff commute from there.

If they're going to do any interviews now it's going to have to be very little at a time in order to keep people distanced and avert any outbreaks that may take up to 2 weeks to discover.

Which is precisely the reason they should have resumed this long before December, when we all knew a second wave was going to be coming.

I maintain that there are ways they could process interviews in a socially distant way if they indeed cared enough about the lives they are toying with.

Good news for us - despite still being pessimistic about getting rescheduled, we received an email on December 30th, with our emergency appointment scheduled for February 25th.

Not yet showing up in AIS portal to schedule our medical and biometric, but we have time to get it done. We called in and they said it would take a few days to update in their system.

Reason for the emergency appointment?

I don't think it was actually due to that - we did submit several requests for over a month back, but just got stock answers back for all of them.

From the posts above, it doesn't seem these emergency appointments are being given out to people who requested them.

We had an appointment for March 30, 2020 which was cancelled and are currently in Mexico.

@Juliet57 is correct, our interview took 11 months from our Case Closed.

We booked the flights and hotel as soon as we got our new date. We are trying to look at the silver linings and working with the certainties that we have right now in order to avoid extra stress.

Good luck tomorrow!

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks a lot! Everything went smoothly and I got approved :D

They only asked for the original birth certificates (mine and my husband’s), marriage certificate and police records. We updated some documents and upload them in the CEAC before the interview, maybe that’s why they didn’t ask for taxes or anything else. The questions were pretty basic: how do we meet, where and when did we get married, is my husband a resident or citizen, where was he born, where does he work, how often do we see each other, have I been to USA, if I have a current visa, and that was it.

About the measures @StarSeed1: you need to wear make all the time, they have gel and they practice social distancing. Also they are only performing a few interviews every day. I didn’t see a lot of people at the consulate, it basically looks empty. I count only 4 windows checking the documents and I would say less than 10 windows performing the interviews. I had the number 25 for immigrant visas (my appointment was at 8.30). i would say there was only 20 people waiting in the huge room at the time. It took me like 2 hours (mostly waiting).

I am back home and I will wait for my package here, I hope it arrives next week so I can get to US before January 26th.
