My interview was in Montreal on June 20th. I took the bus all day from Windsor up to Montreal on the 19th, 'toured' downtown in the evening, then returned to the hotel to pass out while watching a baseball game.

I stayed at the La Tour Centreville hotel that many people mention. It is a fairly decent place to stay with quick access to the Consulate. I asked for a wake up call at 6am but it came at 6:15. I didn't mind since I was awake at 5:45. To find the Consulate, you just walk out the door, turn left, walk to the corner, and cross Rene Levesque. It is the big marble building on the corner.

I got there just after 7am and I was second in line to get in but for some reason I was first to get called to hand in my documents and first to get my interview. I also had walked to the back of the elevator. The document collector guy was friendly. I didn't realize I was supposed to keep that paper clipped to the outside of the medical. I thought it was just instructions to not open the envelope. He said I should have kept it on but it was no big deal. When I went to pay the cashier she stapled my receipt to the Consulate's receipt. I just kept it attached because I didn't want to take it off if I wasn't supposed to take that off too.

After a half hour or 45 minute wait I was called in for my interview. The guy was sitting behind a bullet proof window I presume. He was very friendly and asked me things like where I met my fiancee, what she does, what my co-sponsor does. He asked what I would do when I got there and how I proposed to her. Then he said I was approved and congratulated me. He then gave me an information sheet on moving to the states and a tax info sheet. He then said "enjoy Indiana" and I was on my way. I left the Consulate and then went to have b/fast at the little bistro beside the hotel. It was a piece of cake and I enjoyed the trip.

02/25 Received Welcome letter in mail

02/28 Green card arrived in mail. Done with USCIS for now

01/12/10 Sent I-751 to California Service Center; arrived on 1/14/2010

02/09 Biometrics appointment in Michigan City, Indiana

02/10 Case updated

02/23 Received NOA

03/08 Card production ordered

03/10 ROC approval letter arrives

03/15 Ten year Green card arrives

02/17/12 Mailed citizenship application

05/23 Received oath letter

2009-07-21: Touched (first time since biometrics) Perhaps address change?

2009-08-25: Received card in the mail

2013-01-18: Became Citizen

Thank you everybody. Oh yes, it was quick and painless. I couldn't believe how easy it was and wondered why I was so stressed about it.

Because we stress about every little detail in this process. It's just what we do.

You are right. But man does it feel good when it's over. Now I have a reprieve until I have to worry about AOS.

I have the EAD and AOS filled out, I got the Immunization record yesterday. Just need to make copies of a few things and it is ready to go. This part is a little less stressful than the K3 part.

It is nice being back in the US!! :)

02/26/08 - 485's approved without interview

01/14/09 - Sent I-751 - removal of conditions

02/23/10 - Biometrics

03/17/10 - Removal of conditions approved .. card production ordered

What paper? Do you mean the vaccination supplement that's paperclipped to the package? My X-Ray is stapled to my medical papers... I want to take them apart so I can safeguard that package of papers that's more important than the medical... (remove the staples, I mean.)

October 17, 2007 - K1 interview - approved

October 19, 2007 - K1 arrived in mail

October 21, 2007 - US entry

October 23, 2007 - Wedding day

November 27, 2007 - AOS, EAD, AP package sent

December 7, 2007 - Received all 3 NOA's for AOS, AP & EAD

December 10, 2007 - Received letter for biometrics appointment

January 2, 2008 - I-485 transferred to California

January 3, 2008 - Biometrics

January 16, 2008 - RFE for I-485

January 22, 2008 - RFE for I-485 arrived

January 23, 2008 - AP approved

January 25, 2008 - Case status finally updated: AP approved January 23!

January 31, 2008 - EAD card production ordered

February 2, 2008 - AP arrived in mail

February 5, 2008 - Sending a letter/RFE to CSC

February 5, 2008 - EAD card production ordered (again?!)

February 7, 2008 - RFE/letter arrived at CSC

February 7, 2008 - EAD approval sent

February 9, 2008 - EAD card received, dated January 23rd!

February 25, 2008 - CSC finally acknowledges receiving RFE

February 27, 2008 - I-485 APPROVED!

February 27, 2008 - Online case status: notice mailed welcoming new permanent resident.

March 3, 2008 - Received welcome letter

March 3, 2008 - I-485 approval letter sent

March 6, 2008 - Green card arrived in mail.

November 2009 - Removal of conditions...
