Could it really takes 12 and half months for the I-130 petition to get approved?

Hi everyone :)

Today is exactly 6 months since we're waiting for an approval from the USCIS.

Yesterday my Husband called them to ask about our case and how long it would take them. They told him it takes 12 and half months for right now but it could change every month. but when I go on the wedside and check how long texas USCIS needs to process a case it stays 4 and half to 7 months. So it's really confusing and I really hope we don't have to wait another half year for an approval. It's starts getting really frustating and I wanted to hear from you guys what your experience was with the timeline and how long it really took for you to get approved. Thank you.

Due to pandemic, delays are expected. After a month or so you can submit an ONPT request since your case is filed at TSC. Mine got transferred from TSC to VSC and its been 13 months now with no updates/approval. We can just hope for the best at the moment.

Sorry to hear that. I waited 11.5 months (350 days) when it was processed at Nebraska Center. Texas was famous for faster processing. Maybe the pandemic dragged it a bit.

Visa Journey statistics indicated the time at TSC is more like 8-10 months.  Here is a graph showing the VJ numbers for the processing times for all service centers:

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Our I130 took about 17 months (California Center). Though it was a F21 category. Not sure if that makes a difference.  I would imagine 12 months is relatively close.

Texas slowed down due to the pandemic but had been moving faster.

Did you get notified that you were transferred? I hear a lot of people get transferred without being notified.
