I was wondering if anybody has an answer to this - while waiting for my AP&EAD&Green card, can I donate blood/plasma and receive compensation for that? Or is this not allowed?

If you're doing it for income, it likely crosses the line into work. In particular, depending on frequency and amount, it can be considered a form of self-employment subject to self-employment taxes (74 T.C. 1229).

Technically, the blood/plasma is not being sold. That would be illegal (you can't sell blood, organs, etc.). It's compensation for the time spent.

Oh that's awesome. It says in the article that people that lived in Europe are ok again except for Ireland, France and GB at certain times.

Oh, man.....I got so hopeful, and then:  An indefinite deferral also remains for persons who lived in the United Kingdom for three months or more cumulatively in the period from 1980 to 1996.

 

 I lived in London for a year when I was 17/18 ('87-'88).  Before the indefinite deferral was in place, I donated every three months for years.  I don't mind the 16g needle, have a huge left AC vein, and they always wanted components in my blood.

 

Oh, well.......maybe I'll be in the next round of revisions to the guidelines.....
