Please help! What type of I-864 form is needed?

My parents are bringing over a family member. This person is my aunt on my mother's side, and I helped with filling out the DS-260 for my aunt. My mother must fill out an I-864 form. But I am unsure which one we need to fill out. [I-864, I-864EZ, or I-864W] Please help point me in the right direction. Thank you!

I-864W no longer exists.

 

I-864 for a primary or joint sponsor.

I-864EZ is a "simpler" version of the I-864 that some people qualify to use. Nobody is required to use the EZ form.

I-864A for a household member joining their income/assets with an I-864 sponsor.

If mother is the only one who is sponsoring, but on tax forms parents are joint, is it still going to be just  I-864? I mean, there won't be any need for I-864A, right?

if the do taxes together, they might ask your dad to file the i864A. the petitioner files the i864. the spouse files the i864A as her household member

Strictly speaking, she can be the sole sponsor.

Often they will want to see an I-864A from a spouse who files jointly with the sponsor, though.
