hello fellow Denver fillers :)

TL;DR - Filled N-400 in 2022 Oct, Interview on 2023 Apr 6, Approved on 2023 Apr 24, Currently waiting for the oath ceremony notice

I was a N-400 2022 October filler

I got my N-400 interview NOA on 2023 Feb 27, and had my interview on April 6.

Everything went very smooth. I got to the FO at 12:15 even though my appointment time was at 12:45. I went through security check and checked in at the counter next to the it. Then I was told to head up to the second floor, and there I waited about 20 mins til I was called into the interview. The interviewer was very nice and she began the interview with the civic test so that I don't have to stress about it during the entire interview.

Some of the questions I was asked during the civics test

1) How many justices are on the supreme court

2) Who was the first president

3) Who is the Commander in Chief of the military

4) When is the deadline for filling taxes

5) What are two rights in the Declaration of Independence

6) When do we celebrate Independence Day

Writing test: We vote for president in November

Reading test: (honestly do not remember but it was fairly simple)

Then she went through the application paperwork with me and fixed a couple of mistakes I made.

After going through the application and some of the extra evidence that I brought with me to the interview (eg 2022 tax return, apartment lease, etc), she told me she'd review all the paperwork and notify me her decision since I also had a pending ROC and she couldn't make a decision on the spot. The entire interview lasted about 20 mins. And while my husband drove with me to the FO, he didn't actually go into the interview with me, nor the interviewer asked for his presence for the I751 interview.

A week after the interview on April 14, I logged online to see that they have sent me a RFE requesting an oath waiver. It is very weird because I didn't request for one, and I expressed multiple times during the interview that I understood and am willing to take the oath. So I wrote a statement saying that I am willing to take the oath if my application was approved. Then finally on April 24, the online case status changed to "we recommended your N-400 be approved" and that an oath ceremony will be schedule. On the same day my ROC (I-751) was also approved. So now I am just waiting for them to send me the oath ceremony details and I'll done.

Since I live about 6.5 hours away from Denver, I was really hoping she'd just approve my case on the same day and let me do a same day oath. Alas, with a pending I751, I knew the chances were slim. I'm just happy that the immigration process is at its final stages and that I'd only have to (hopefully) only go back to Denver one more time to attend the ceremony and get my certificate.

Tomorrow is the big day and I am beyond anxious about this.

Hopefully they will accept IRS transcripts in place of the full tax returns uploaded to my application (I wasn't aware of the transcripts when I applied), which will also include 2022s transcript.

Checking my documents, I hope I have it all right and now I have to re-read the civics questions so my wife can test me tonight and in the car to the office.

Interview done, recommended for approval!

Denver office was very efficient, got there before my 15min window and we were told we couldn't go on before 15min. Smooth through security, checked in and went to the 2nd floor to wait.

IO came out almost 5 min after we sat down, introduced her to my wife before heading up to her office.

Clarified name, took fingerprints and oath.

Test was first, reading the phrase "who can vote" then writing "citizens can vote" before my 6 civics questions.

We elect a senator for how many years?

We elect a president for how many years?

The Federalist Papers supported the passage of the US constitution,  name one writer.

Name one problem that led to the civil war.

Who did the US fight in World War 2?

Name 2 national holidays.

After that we went through my application, corrected a couple of mistakes, not once did she want to look at my documentation, even when we got to the taxes piece and I said I had my 2022 transcript.

At the end of all that, signing the corrections and verifying information for certificate, she printed my paper saying I had passed the test and was recommended for approval. I was not able to get the same day oath at that point due to the system taking longer to process the applications. I asked about that with my travel plans and she said it could go through and to come back I'm a couple of hours yo verify.

Went out to lunch to celebrate, came back to the office at the time to be told, yes I can do same day oath but we decided to wait so I didn't have to rush to get the passport done. She also said that I can do my oath ceremony May 22nd as they are doing a large ceremony at the Rockies stadium before a game so that's when it will happen.

Done and done, happy days.

Does anyone know if the Denver field office is still doing on-site administrative oath ceremonies? Those seemed to be quite common earlier this year. Denver timelines here, sorted by oath date.

My interview is coming up on October 31 and, for a couple of reasons (Nov 7 election and upcoming international travel), it'd be very helpful if I could do the oath same-day or soon afterward.

My timeline is available here.
