Problem with utility bills for I-751 (Ex: Not both name)

Hi,

When I married to my husband, he is already living in his own house. So when we move together, we did not change all the utility bills under both name. However, only electrcity company allows us to put both name and we did on April. Because the electricity bill only comes every two months, I only have two bills that have both names.

1) Do you think it is worth to put them as part of my evidence?

2) Do I have to explain as for why we didn't change before? (Just the reason was simple : We just didn't think about this. And even if I write a letter of explanation, this won't be over 100 words I think.)

3) Is it normal if I don't present any utility bills ? (I can present phone bills, on the contrary. Just I see a lot of people have gas bills, water bills etc.)

Thanks a lot :) !

I would......they show both of you living at the same address....although mingled finances (bank statements for the entire period) is more important, imo.

Thanks! But do you think I would need to explain? (Just I am not sure how, because it is just very simple reason. ) Even if I write a letter, I don't feel it would be like over 100 words since it is just because we didn't think about adding the name

What do youu think? 🤔

I see no reason to explain....Just make sure your I-751 package includes QUALITY evidence....such as legal documents normally generated during a marriage.

Yes yes surely I have many other documents! I was just afraid that the agent will wander why we didn't add both names (and potentially suspect we didn't live together).

Thank you for your help!

MOST utilities will only allow one name on the bill.  Send what you have, and don't worry about what you don't.  We had NO utilities with both names - only our cellphone bill with two numbers (and one name for each number).  You do not have to explain.

Yes yes that is exactly the situation. But when you say "send what you have" means just send everything that has both names? (So all other utility bills without both name don't have to be sent?)

Thanks a lot!

Yeah send everything you have with both names. They're not going to think you guys don't live together just because only your spouse's name is on one bill when you have lots of other documents showing both names. My name is not on most of our bills. But we've got other documents like insurance stuff, property ownership documents, joint bank account, etc.

Not to worry. ConEd would only allow one name. We included other information like a Will, POA, Health Proxy, Bank Statements, Credit Card Statements in both names, Invitation emails from friends showing both names..just a few copies...

There was no interview. Matter of fact I did not have any interview for the AOS or the I-751. The cards just showed up in the mail.

Thank you for assuring me. I am thinking to provide almost the same documents. I will just put everything I have.

I did not have an interview for AOS, and i got my green card in 9 months. So I hope this luck will be there for my I-751.

Thanks again!

Current policy would generally prohibit waiving both an AOS and ROC interview (prior to this, it certainly happened): https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/memos/2018-11-30-PM-602-0168-revised-interview-waiver-guidance-for-form-I-751.pdf

Oh I just realized that I said that I did not have interview for AOS. (Not sure why I said that) But in fact I had an interview for AOS, so I hope that I won't have an interview for ROC.

And thanks for giving this policy manual, I didn't such thing exist :)
