Hi all,

I am going to do the medical I693 as I received an RFE! Instead of blood test and urine test I see in the form they have check points for mental disorders and drug use. Are there any questions that have been asked? Could you share your experience please? I want to make sure I won’t be surprised and unprepared for the medical exam.

You're an August filer and you received a RFE for your medical? Seems too soon for that? Plus an RFE for medical usually means, Your medical examination has expired or The medical form wasn’t completed properly. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

or  Was it a  I-693 Deficiency Notice?

I was planning on just doing my medical when I get my interview notice so it's close enough to just bring with me.

My experience was pretty smooth. My biggest problem was that I had to visit the doctor's office 3 times - which translated into a lot of waiting. The first time I saw the doctor, he asked me a bunch of questions regarding my medical background, lifestyle, etc. After that he did the physical exam (kind of uncomfortable, but not the end of the world). He sent me to take 1 shot and to get a pretty extensive lab test - which took me about a week to complete. He didn't accept my vaccination records in Portuguese so he said that the lab test would determine if I had to take more shots. My second visit was the biggest waste of time ever: I had to wait for almost 2h just to hear from him that I would need to take 2 more shots. On my third (and last) visit we had one more quick chat, he said everything was in order and filled out the form in front of me so I could make sure everything was correct. I'm glad he did that because he had SO MANY typos in it. I would be screwed. Finally, he sealed the envelope and gave me a copy so I could have it. That was it. This doctor charged me $300 initially and then asked for $100 more due to the third visit (I felt robbed, but at this point, I didn't even care). The shots and lab work were covered by my health insurance.

But going back to your initial question: at the end of the day I think it's at the doctor's discretion to investigate further any potential issue (based on your answers and lab test results). So your experience will depend on the doctor you see.

No I haven’t sent any I693 at the initial AOS. I am employment based. So they asked I693 and I944 at the RFE. I am not sure if they are planning for an interview waiver. Who really knows!

Thanks for your reply. Yeah doctors tend to do TYPOS all the time. What typos/errors did he do? Is anything that I have to be careful with? How to check the form efficiently?

Still waiting for the letter but kinda positive that it's all about I944 form because we haven't sent it. Gathering documents now whilst we wait for that letter. How long did it take for the ASC or NBC to respond after u sent your response?

It took mine 19 days to be reflected on that case tracker (haven't received the letter yet). But they actually marked my response as "received" 1 day after it was delivered.

I don't remember exactly. But I think 50% of the fields he typed in had at least one typo in it. On my case he had the computer screen positioned in a way that both of us could see it. Just review every single field and make sure everything looks correct. Also, ask them to give you another printed copy so you can review it again before submitting your package. Worst case scenario you can go back one more time and ask them to fix the error and give you another sealed envelope.

We received a RFE for the I-944. Struggling to get tax records from applicants country. Is it a big thing if we can't get it?

Is that a requirement? I thought it was only US taxes. Im gonna have to re-reas the instructions because even tho I havent gotten any RFIE yet, is probably coming soon.

That was one thing I was stumped on when I was actually working on the i944 months ago. I never got a clear answer for whether it was only US tax return or applicants foreign tax return. I’m hoping someone will chime in as I’m waiting for the i944 RFIE as well.

For me I filed here in the US the last two years so I'lll be providing my tax transcripts so 2018/2019 tax years + Plus my spouses last 3 years of transcripts.

That's all I am including.

I found this:

Item 1:

For each household member, including yourself, you’ll start by providing income information from a federal tax return. If you didn’t file a tax return, or weren’t required to, you’ll need to explain why.

You’ll use your “annual gross income” for this section, which is the total of all your earnings (including tips, business or investment income, etc.) before taxes are deducted. You can find this amount on line 7 of your Form 1040 tax return or line 1 of your Form 1040-EZ tax return.

If you or your household members didn’t file a U.S. tax return in the current tax year, you can also use data from the previous year’s return or from a foreign tax return. If you weren’t required to file a tax return during the 3 previous years, you can also use the income figure reported on Item 1 of your Form W-2 earnings statement, or the annual income figure listed in your Social Security Statement.
