When did you send your package to USCIS? Did you do biometrics? I think it should be I-944. Whatever it is, your case seems moving ^___^" best wishes!!

I sent it mid August and no biometrics yet since I am at Seattle WA (very long wait time for biometrics here).

I think too it is for I-944 and yeah something is moving with my case ;)

Today my online status for I-485 changed to “Request for Initial Evidence Was Mailed”

Does anyone know or remember if that was the status cases change for RFE regarding I-944? Ideally it should be I-944 or medical!

My case changed to "Request for Initial Evidence Was Sent" (not sure why the wording is different). Did you sign the G-1145? In any case, USCIS is super inconsistent and my case only updated a week AFTER I received the letter. And even after 2 weeks that they have received my response (I checked on their chat), the status remains the same.

I am not sure for the G-1145 as lawyers submitted the forms (I am an employment based case).

Did you receive the RFE? Was it for I944? Btw did you receive any biometrics appointment before or after RFE for I944 has been sent?

I received a RFIE for I-944. That was the only form missing so I don't expect to get another RFIE (or I hope!).

I have not received my biometrics appointment yet.

Got it! So it seems, most likely, that I will get an RFIE for I944 ;) Same here nothing for biometrics yet :(

Once you mailed the RFIE back to them, how long did it take to update your case online or did you see any online update? Did you check that they have received it through Emma system?

It hasn't updated yet. It still says "Request for Initial Evidence Was Sent". I was worried that they could have lost my package so I got in touch to a live agent through Emma. And they confirmed that they received it one day after the package was delivered.

@OhWow: in the section "Assets and resources" (i-944 form), you listed your and your spouse's house as asset? I read i-944 instruction by USCIS stating that we need a licensed appraiser to get the house apprised (which can cost hundred dollars to do so). Many said we could get the value of the house through free website like Zillow.... What you dealt with this part? Thank you so much!!!

@Jimmy Lee I wouldn't be the best person to give advice on that. We are currently renting the place we live in and all of our assets are liquid (our strategy this year to protect us against all the uncertainties we've been facing this year). So all we had to do was to add the financial statements. But I hope someone who went through this can give you a better answer.

I did a quick search on Google, though, and found this bit here:

Quote

The Form I-944 Instructions do not describe what counts as a “recent” appraisal,20 so a client may have an appraisal from a year or two ago, that they could try to use along with a Zillow or other online estimate in case the value may have changed slightly. In most cases, the financing documents for the home will include a formal appraisal which can be included. Many real estate websites, like Zillow, Redfin, etc. will provide free appraisal estimates and can at least be a starting point to assess whether there has been a significant change in the value of the home. Seeking a new professional appraisal may be a few hundred dollars, and should only be pursued where it will demonstrate a significant asset for the applicant. The real estate company RE/MAX is another option to get a free home appraisal. If the applicant decides to seek a professional home appraisal, they should call a few they are considering to get a quote first, but paying for a licensed home appraisal might not be worth it unless the applicant may also be selling their home in the near future or really stands to gain by a documented change in value of their home. Ultimately, of course, this option should be presented to the client and it would be their choice whether to get a professional appraisal. Whether or not they choose to get a professional appraisal, they should still list their home, if they have one, as an asset on the I-944 and at least submit a free Zillow or other online estimate.

My turnaround was 11 days. So it was faster for me lol but they did take 28 days the first time. So on average 15 days which seem to fall within their Normal ball park. I’m assuming you sent 10/2 edition?

No, I sent in the 8/25 version as it was in effect at that point due to the judge stopping the fee increase (it is still in effect) so thankfully I sent in the right one. I'm sure i'll hear something any day, it's just my luck to have it take a little longer I guess haha.

does anyone know the movement of that? Like would it take months and months for Biden to actually get that reversed?

It's pretty straightforward: https://www.nationalreview.com/magazine/2020/10/19/trumps-immigration-record/ "All the changes undertaken by this administration, as with the prior two, are the result of executive actions of various kinds. Such measures are much easier for a subsequent administration to reverse than are changes in the underlying laws."
