I agree that would be the most logical and fair thing to do, but then again...............you never know USCIS as it stands now is mandated to do the bidding of the current administration so expect anything!

Does anyone have a copy of the I944 form so that I can at least start filling it out?

I've partially filled mine in. I can delete what i've included and send you a copy if you still need it - send me a DM if you do.

Super curious how this is going to go as USCIS has not updated its I-485 instructions.

Talked to two reps today and both said not to include it. We will include it just in case...

Me too. I wonder if they will retrospectively apply this decision and require the I-944 despite their instructions on the website saying it's not needed. It seems really unfair to those who have already sent theirs in without it.

I also wonder if it's needed if you reside in NY, CT or VT. I'm in NY and it's one of the states where the injunction still applies? I think? I was hoping USCIS would update their guidance today...

I saw this last night and had a cry. I am an anxious person so I am kicking myself now that I didn't start this two weeks ago. Two AOS applications are really getting to me and I just feel like I am making no progress.

On this topic I do have a question. With the credit report.. I want to get the no credit report now but should I be doing that in my name I entered on that is still my current or should I wait and apply in my married name? Does it even matter? My bank account is in my current name but I am just not sure which way to go!

I'm sorry. Hang in there. This is an exhausting process but sooner than later you'll be done with it and will be able to relax.

Regarding the credit report (this is just an opinion and might not be correct) - If you don't have a credit history, I would do queries with both names. If you do have a credit history I think it doesn't matter, because your credit history is probably attached to a SSN or an ITN number.

Given what we know now, I would send the I-944 if I was in one of those states. The only reason I didn't send it with my application was that USCIS explicitly instructed not to send it if you were mailing your package after Jul 29. I thought it could do more harm than good (the form was ready). Such a mess....

I definitely don't have a history! Or even a SSN! I don't get married until next Friday. This may sound silly but I will ask anyway. Should I just get them to do my married name now or should I hold off and ask for both once I get married next week? Time is not on my side and so I just want to do what I can now but if it is better to wait until I am legally married to do both than I will!

How are you filing application without getting marriage certificate (or married first)?

Sorry didn't understand your question.

We are getting married next week.. I have just been filling the paperwork out now so we can file as soon as possible after the wedding. Only thing that was missing was our marriage certificate. Until now. :)

Cool. Yeah use your married name that will be your legal name after marriage if you are changing it. Don't forget to mention your maiden name on the form where they ask for any other names used.

I did the same thing. Prepared application/documents before getting married and sent everything as soon as i received the marriage certificate.

Oh yeah I have been married before so I have put my current and previous name no issues.

But my question was confusing so let me try to make it more clear! I want to apply for the no credit score letter today. I am not married yet. Should I apply in my current name? Or should I wait and apply in my married name? Or should I do both? If I give them both names do I have to wait until the marriage until I give them my married name as I won't have changed my name on anything by the time the AOS application goes in (obviously my AOS is in my new name). Hope that makes sense.

Basically can I apply today in my current name or should I wait until next week to get it in my married name? Just trying to save as much time as possible!

You can apply in your current name today and get the letter. Since you are anyways going to mention your current name in the names used before in the application you should be good.

How much time it going to take to get the marriage certificate? For me in California, it took us exact 11 days to get the certificate in mailbox since they were not doing to the in person collection in July. If it's going to be same for you, wait till you get married and on the marriage day ask credit score companies to send you letter in your name. I'm not exactly sure how that work since i already have SSN and i had score/report with me.
