In terms of the I944. When it asks for your credit card debt, do you put $0 if you pay it off in full every month? Like I have some money on it right now so I guess that will show up on my credit report but I pay it off every month so idk if that counts as debt or not?

For credit cards, if you're always paying off the balance in full, then I don't think you need to list it. What you need to report are revolving balances (money owed that carries over through more than one credit cycle).

If you want to be super cautious you can pay off all your credit cards before the account balances post for the next couple months while they're looking at your file, but I think that's unnecessary. Keeping the utilization (% of credit used against total credit available) in a normal range (basically, don't max out every line of credit you have), and you're not carrying a balance, there should be no issues.  That is going to be our approach.

@Ny2020 & @Cilllah - I just got the mail. It was an RFE for the I-944. A little disappointing, but at least things are moving...

Ugh, I was hoping it'd be biometrics for you! September was a horrible month for biometrics on VJ and so far it doesn't look like October is much better, but at least the application is still being reviewed.

Curious, did they give any timeline on submitting the 944 materials?

Checked status and no RFE for me yet. Kind of dabbling with the I-944 but not really ready to plough into it. I have everything and so once I see that status change I can get it done in a day or two. Just my motivation is SO low!

@Cilllah, my status never changed on any of my applications. Maybe because this is a "Request for Initial Evidence" and not a "Request for Evidence". Not sure.... But be on the lookout for the letter in the mail

Oh, that is good to know! I was expecting a RFE status change like with the K1!

I didn't file AP. What is the purpose of AP? Is it so that you can travel outside of the country before I-130 and I-485 are approved?

Yes. You can leave the US anytime without AP, but it abandons your pending I-485 and you would have to switch to IR-1/CR-1 visa process abroad. If you paid the full fee for I-485 you can still file I-131 for free.

There is no cost to file if filing concurrently so I went ahead and applied.

It's also free to file after filing I-485: "If you properly file Form I-485 and pay the required fees, you may file Form I-765 and Form I-131 without paying additional fees. You may file these forms together, or if you choose to file Form I-765 or Form I-131 separately, you must also submit a copy of your I-797C, Notice of Action, receipt as evidence that you filed and paid for Form I-485.https://www.uscis.gov/system/files_force/files/form/i-485instr.pdf

Not even anywhere close to getting an RFE for my I944 😃 congrats!

These are RFIEs not RFEs.

Regional benefit centers issue RFIEs and field offices issue RFEs.

Benefit centers perform an initial checklist of forms/evidences and issue RFIE before moving the case to field offices. Most likely these applicants will have to submit their RFIE response before they can receive bio-metrics notices.

In my case, I submitted without i944 and completed bio last month. I did not get a RFIE because the injunction was still in place at the time USCIS was reviewing my application.

I am expecting a RFE from field office for my i944 and i693.

RFE would only be issued if they are going to adjudicate your I-485 without interview: https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-8-part-b-chapter-4 "Applicants may submit the Form I-693 medical examination report to USCIS: Concurrently with the immigration benefit application; or At any time after filing the immigration benefit application but before USCIS finalizes adjudication of that application. If not submitted simultaneously with the immigration benefit application, applicants may bring the medical examination report to an interview or wait until USCIS issues an RFE requesting the medical examination report."

It would be nice if they also ask me to bring the 944 along with 693 to the interview.

Not gonna happen. Lol
