Ok, I think that was the issue -- USCIS basically freaks out when the fees don't come in exactly as they're expecting (which would have been two total payments of $1225 for the 485 and $535 for the I-130). Even though it all adds up to the same thing, something about the way they process means if you have a fee they're not expecting in the packet, forms get rejected.

I searched and saw the same thing happened to people in the past -- someone included an unnecessary, additional $85 biometric fee and the form got rejected. Maybe someone saw the $85, assumed you filed something incomplete, and rejected. Or the 485 took longer to process because the payment was strange and wasn't in the system by the time they got to the 765 so they figured you didn't submit the fee.

The good news is the 765s that got rejected were mailed with 485s that were still accepted, so hopefully yours was too.

I really hope that you are correct.  I’m trying to remain positive until I can call Monday.  I have zero news on the 485

Good! Stay positive! Whether it was the wrong category or the payment was confusing I think this is minor and won't significantly impact your timeline going forward. Not getting 131/485 rejections is also a good sign, most people reported receiving them all at once.

It’s not coming anytime soon lol just handle it when you get it

I was hoping in the next few weeks but you really think it is gonna be THAT long? I might just not worry about working on it then as it won't even take long tbh.

I’m wondering if I should just send the 944 as well or if that would confuse adjudicators?

You can't  confuse them anymore  than they already are. I'd  wait until they asked for it specifically wait for the RFE. But you are talking about refilling I just re read your post.

Lol true seeing as I can’t figure out why they rejected me other than the possible fee issue 😂 Appreciate that thank you

If you are going to refile the entire packet yes include the 944, if they dont need it they won't use it I guess that way you'll avoid the possible RFE.

Yeah I’m not sure what’s happening yet. I’m calling Monday to see if everything was rejected or just the work permit. If everything was rejected would they not have sent it all together? I know a lot about the process but I’m green with these issues

I see what your saying, they usually reject the entire package, best to wait until you figure out what is going on. But if you send the 944 I'd attach a letter to it to let them know  it's a additional form  with it's supporting documents that was not in the original package. USCIS and the powers to be have us coming and going over this I-944. I guess when in doubt send the I-944.

That’s really helpful thank you. I’ll wait on my 944 for now

9/30 is fiscal year that is when they are doing major operational cuts. In addition- they will most likely send RFE in batches and those whole filed after July 29th will most likely get priority. I don’t see it coming anytime soon. I would get your suppprting documents together and take care of the I-944 application later.

Good viewpoint and point!

Well that's cool, you are on easy street now and just have to wait! Did you send in the I-944 too?
