That could be. Usually it's recommended not to combine fees since sometimes they have to separate out forms for some reason and in that case they can't reuse the one money order.

Yeah the place wouldn’t let me do that unfortunately.  I had to send 4 separate ones

Not sure what the postmark date was it was received September 3, received by UPS and it was the proper edition

If USPS, postmark date is when USPS accepted your package. USCIS is making mistakes of rejecting applications recently even when filed with correct edition date.

So did you receive your i765 rejection in the mail I just find it odd that they rejected it because it’s outdated seems like a big error . Does the notice say rejection due to outdated form

Yes that’s how I found out, I’ll try and resize a photo of the letter.  I have not received any other  notices yet

That's weird. I would recommend calling USCIS and get your receipt numbers. Ask them if you need to wait before you send I-765 again. Otherwise you have to pay 765 fees starting Oct 2nd.

I’ve been trying to talk to Emma and to get them and nothing. I’m going to try calling Monday because they’re closed until then

No fee for him regardless when you send it. As long as your i485 was accepted before oct 2nd the i765 will be under the fee rule. You can see the details of the new rule

True. But instruction says: "You must submit a copy of your Form I-797C Notice for Form I-485 as evidence you filed Form I-485 during that time period and paid the appropriate fee."

Oh no! Your timeline did look like there was an issue with the 765 which is why I asked the other day, but I thought it was form, not payment.

To be clear, you filed:

I-130, I-131, I-485, I-765, correct? And you said you had 4 cashiers checks? What were the amounts on each one?

That’s right, and they were for $1000, $140, $85, $535.  I had initially had all of the fees written out on the paper that I gave to the cashier and she got confused and said she couldn’t take them back without a fee

Ok, I think that was the issue -- USCIS basically freaks out when the fees don't come in exactly as they're expecting (which would have been two total payments of $1225 for the 485 and $535 for the I-130). Even though it all adds up to the same thing, something about the way they process means if you have a fee they're not expecting in the packet, forms get rejected.

I searched and saw the same thing happened to people in the past -- someone included an unnecessary, additional $85 biometric fee and the form got rejected. Maybe someone saw the $85, assumed you filed something incomplete, and rejected. Or the 485 took longer to process because the payment was strange and wasn't in the system by the time they got to the 765 so they figured you didn't submit the fee.

The good news is the 765s that got rejected were mailed with 485s that were still accepted, so hopefully yours was too.
