Oh God,

I just got a RFIE and now this.

RFIE is for:

 - "long-format" birth certificate. I already sent that along with its translation. So I guess they lost it? The BC that I have is the legal complete one, they should take it. Not sure what's going on here.
 - Supporting Evidence from joint sponsor. We submitted IRS transcripts, but the sponsor filed jointly and we're only using his income (No I-864A), so they want his supporting documents. He can provide those (I guess W-2s + transcripts should be enough?), but now I am afraid the income amounts we used to file I-864 are not accurate, should we send a new I-864 with the current income amount corrected? The RFIE only asks for the supporting evidence (or a new I-864 in case of switching sponsor).

But seems like a good news that they started working on your case so early.

Thanks @Geekosnap

Good idea. I'll add an explanation for the BC in the cover letter.

For the I-864 we're going thru the instructions again, and since his income is enough it is not necessary to include his spouse I-864A. I just found the part of the instructions where we messed up. I guess we'll file a new and corrected I-864. It's just a bit scary as this is our last shot to get it right.

I guess I get the consolation prize of at least knowing that they're processing my case...

If you provide a photocopy of your Federal individual income tax returns, you must include a copy of each and every Form W-2 and Form 1099 that relates to your returns. Do not include copies of these forms if you provide an IRS transcript of your Federal individual income tax returns rather than a photocopy unless you filed a joint income tax return with your spouse and are qualifying using only your income.

Hey guys, for you interested in current AOS processing times, here is the latest info by Field Offices published by USCIS in July 2020A986BF37-F551-4561-9E8A-D2877D35D77B.thumb.jpeg.ebb44a5ba35af6a19b3ef2c27744d71d.jpeg

Does anybody have a list of the evidence required for the I-944?

When I first reviewed it  i noticed the form required these:

  • Marriage certificate
  • Health insurance letter
  • Evidence of credit report (letter stating I couldn't get a report due to  not having SSN)
  • Provide evidence of having studied English (Optional)
  • Provide  certificates of courses taken (Optional)
  • Provide certificate of studies (University, etc)

But maybe there is more that I didn't cover, please share. Thanks

Ugh. Not having my green card until June next year at best sucks. Plus who knows how the RFE will delay it further. I just want to start my life - like everyone else I suppose. Hopefully the combo card comes faster.

Interesting! Although I do not know anyone that have taken 10 months or less. Wow some cities are close to 20 months! That’s insane

I live in Miami, so my wait time will take approx. 18 months 😭

Not surprised that they're applying the 944 retroactively (it undermines the entire law if they don't, I'm not sure why so many people on VJ were so certain they wouldn't), but I am curious to see how they actually implement the RFE process -- how quickly they send them and what kind of timelines, if any, they attach to mailing back the completed form.

It would be nice if it was treated more like the medical for pre-October 13 filers, and you could just bring it to the interview for a rubber stamp, but given the sheer quantity of information requested that's probably unlikely.

The worst part is, depending on the outcome of November's election it may no longer even be required come January!

For those who haven't completed the form yet, be warned that it may take time (up to a few weeks) if you need to send out requests for translations of financial statements, a credit score, or educational equivalency certifications.

I have seen some examples of evidence people have submitted but not a lot of financial things. What is generally needed?

Anyone know how to get a letter saying no credit score? We were like 2 days away from sending,  now that it’s required again I was thinking of sending in the applications without the i944 form and waiting for an rfe because it says until October 13 and I don’t want to have to pay two fees after October 1 but it will take me too long to get all the documents for the i944

what a mess

Some examples of things required of my wife:

Quote

Submit any tax transcripts for any income taxes that you or your household members filed with any foreign government if you or your household members were residing outside of the United States during any time within the most recent tax year and you were not required to file a federal individual income tax return with the United States government.

Quote

Provide the value of any asset held in the United States or outside the United States, in U.S. dollars

Quote

Provide a list of all your liabilities or debts. Examples of liabilities and debts include mortgages, car loans, unpaid child or spousal support, unpaid taxes, and credit card debt. Provide documentation for each liability or debt

If any of the documentation for the above is not in English (as was the case for most of these things for us)

Quote

If you submit a document with information in a foreign language, you must also submit a full English translation. The translator must sign a certification that the English language translation is complete and accurate, and that he or she is competent to translate from the foreign language into English. The certification must include the translator’s signature. DHS recommends the certification contain the translator’s printed name, the signature date, and the translator’s contact information.

I recommend reading the instructions just to make sure you have everything for your particular case https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/i-944instr-pc.pdf
