I think someone posted above screenshot of their letters. Nothing much has changed except filing I-944 is not required at the moment.

You got that right,  "not required at the moment!!!!"

I am starting my husband's AOS to file this month. Does anyone have an updated checklist and cover letter example? I know I 944 is not required right now. Thanks.

As far as an updated checklist the only thing that has changed is the I-944, if you'll glance at the checklist in the first post of this thread you'll be fine. But correct the I-944 is not required for now!

I am really hoping us August filers are lucky and get through the whole process without needing to do the i-944. It seems they've taken it off their website so hopefully it will be awhile before it is back.

Another question. I have previously been married and I changed my name which I am now changing to my fiances name. So I am filling this out in my married name. Anyway, I have been listing my previous married name and maiden in the forms where requested. Should I be attaching a copy of my marriage and divorce certificate for proof of name change to that name with this like with the K1 application? For example, I had to list all names for the EAD and I was wondering if I should attach those two documents to prove that or not?

Thanks!

I think as per the instructions, one has to attach divorce decree anyways. So just to avoid RFE include every documents that would support your answers on the forms. Think of USCIS people as someone who never met you and don't know about your history. So better if you can present them with a timeline.

@Jsg2016You are obviously on the ball, there are many ways to put together your packet, you chose IMO a very good method (that's exactly how we submitted ours in September 2019!!!!) You are off to a good start! Bravo my friend.......

Thank you @Sarge2155 !  I would have been very lost without the VJ team. It's nice to hear from an uplifting member!

Just came back from UPS to send my package.

I also think it was bittersweet what happened with I-944. It's great that people will have less work now and that USCIS will probably have less paperwork to go through. But it was a lot of time wasted for me! At least it's ready to go if they ask for it in the future.

Fingers crossed now and good luck to us all!

Yeah, I was gonna attach with the I-485 for sure. However, even in the instructions there's no mention if I need one for the I-765. It asks for prior names though so I was assuming I would need a copy for that too as well as what is already in the packet!

So should we be adding N/A to every empty field on our forms before we submit them then? I didn't do that for K1 but now I am worried? Easy to do if not a bit weird but.

Your divorce decree is not required to submit, your marriage license would support your name change. Your marriage license is what is required not your divorce decree at least not for the AOS. We did not submit any divorce decrees and the AOS was filed out in the married name. We also listed all names used but again no divorce decree.

You never know as it depends on who is adjudicating your case. But as a precaution knowing that they can and might reject your application because of it I probably would just to be safe.
