They told you that the I-944 was in fact required?

They received my packet on the 20th as well and I did not send the I-944 with it. I hope I won't get a rejection based on that, the form wasn't even on the website at that time..

They still haven't cashed out the money..

Yep, that was the first question I asked and the rep confirmed  it was required...so I mailed it with the supported documents. Previous rejections it took them about 3 weeks to return my packet. You can call the customer service center and they'll be able to tell you if your packet was rejected and the reason or if they are still processing it. My wait time was about 25min and I called  mid-week in the middle of the day.

I am fine getting an RFE for it. I just don't want an outright rejection as that is too tight a turnaround to having to pay the new fees.

I know! That's why I called because I was a little confused....hopefully you guys will be able to slide through without any issues since it's seems to be such confusion around that stupid document. BTW I called around August 14th

For you guys who did not include the I-944, I don’t think you will get a rejection notice. Given the misunderstanding regarding the I-944 and the lack of updated info on their website, you will probably get a RFIE, or who knows, maybe they won’t even ask for it. I recommend you guys to wait patiently for checks to be cashed out or for a NOA in the mail. My check was cashed on the 28th day after filing. I’m sending you all the best and positive energy. Cheer up! 🙌🏻

I really hope you’re correct. I was excited I didn’t have to do all of the extra work for the I 944.

Oh no! I’m really sorry to hear! Did you use category C9 for your application? I remember someone mentioning here that they used a different one. This could affect the fee you would need to pay (as with C9 you don’t pay for EAD or AP)

I think I did do C9 but have to look at my paperwork later. Why would that change the amount? And what would I have to pay?

I hope you're right. I don't mind a RFE or RFIE. I just want those two checks cashed before the new fee increase as it will fit me hard. I do have my education evaluation and my credit score report so I can do I-944 in a quick turnaround if needed. I just would rather just slide through. I printed out their statement saying it isn't required and even highlighted/underlined bits so maybe they will give me a pass as it literally was not on their website lol. I just want it cashed soon before that fee increase. Ahhh!

I'd really encourage you and everyone else to do the work of getting the documents together (hold off on paying for the translations, certifications, etc., just have the original documents ready to go if you need them).

Obviously hoping it's never needed (we didn't include it), but the government has shown they are very committed to making 944 happen and I would not be at all surprised if the information is requested at some point in our journey...

With all these rejections  and changes first they want the I-944, then they don't, then they do again.  This is NOT you alls fault. This proves USCIS  has no idea what they want and when. It's  not entirely their fault either, but that's another issue. Just hang in there and hope for the best but prepare for the worst, that way you won't be devastated if it happens. I recommend getting the I-944 ready just in case.

It wouldn’t be too hard for me to do, but it’s more a factor of finishing up education that I don’t have and haven’t had the time to do with three young children.  Right now I’m full-time caregiver to two young kids with autism

That makes me feel a lot Better. I even asked a lawyer before hand if we needed to send it and was told no. It’s so frustrating

Same. Between myself and my daughter it is going to be a big increase. I probably just won't do AP but EAD I still will have to and her filing fee goes up as well.

I already have my evaluation and credit checks ready to go anyway so not a big deal. Just like I said worried about cutting it too close to the fee increase!
