Oh wow, that's rough. I'm sure if you search through VisaJourney you'll find someone who went through a similar thing.

Good luck! 💫

We had our interview today at the Alexandria office. Our officer was very nice and apologetic about our wait (we ended up waiting about 45 min past our scheduled time). We came prepared with pictures, tax returns, birth certificates, bank statements, bills, etc. we even studied interview questions and all. He just asked us the story of our meeting. How we met. How my husband proposed and about our in-laws. He didn’t ask for not one document or picture. We reviewed the questions on the K1 visa and made changes (work, address, etc) he told us the only hold up is that my husband received a ticket from driving on his international license, we go to court next week. We told the officer its almost resolved because he now has his VA license. The Officer said it’s not a huge deal, but needs to be reviewed and if he needs anything he’ll reach out, but it’s likely they won’t need anything else. We weren’t approved on the spot, but we felt  it was a positive experience. Our case was updated to interview complete/needs review by the time we reached the parking lot.

Hi! I am also filing for AOS now following marriage after K-1 visa. my medical examination was in December 2020, do I still need to file the DS 3025 since it has been less than a year? and how I note for this in the cover letter. Also wanted to ask how important it is to have the CERTIFIED copy instead of a regular copy of the marriage certificate?

Thanks so much!

Just had our interview!! We were not officially approved on the spot, though I think our officer wanted to... We had a hold from December that seemed to be perplexing him as it wasn't from the office. He tried for like 20 minutes to get in contact with the person who put the hold on to tell them to take it off but finally he just told us as soon as he gets an email back he will make the decision. He then proceeded to talk to us about removal of conditions saying "two years from today" your conditions are to be removed and "three years from today" you can go for citizenship and the like which leads me to believe... We will hopefully have an approval by the end of the day 😅

Also, fun story... We talked about our love of wrestling being what got us together, and at the end of the interview before he let us go... He played BURN IT DOWN!!!! on his phone (Seth Rollins wrestling them) 🤣🤣🤣

Hello Aug 2020 filers, we had our AOS Marriage interview yesterday in LA!

We arrived at the office 15 mins early for our 8:00am appointment, went through security and waited about 5 mins after checking in. The officer called our number and we followed her to a photo copier where she took our IDs, Passports and my I-20's (I was on a F1 for 3 years). Then we followed her to her office, and she asked for my medical, she was very stern, I wouldn't say rude though, but she def wasn't friendly, but she's an officer so I wasn't expecting a warm cheery reception from her. After that she took our Marriage Certificate and then started asking me the yes or no questions on the i-485. After that she said we are here for you to become a Permanent Resident, and you need to prove you have a bonafide marriage, she then asked if we'd like to submit any evidence that wasn't in the original packet we when we applied. We gave her joint tax transcript, bank statements, bills, I am not on the lease, which she seemed bugged that my wife didn't bring the rental agreement even if I wasn't on it. She then asked for pictures only with family, so we gave her some pictures of my wife's sister and mother with us. We haven't been able to travel outside to see mine because of covid-19 but she said make sure you take some when you are together with your family for more evidence when you have to remove conditions in a year and 9 months if you are approved today. We then gave her about 6 or 7 more pics with friends, she said she didn't care about pics of just us. After that she handed us a piece of paper that said, we are reviewing your case, and she said we will get a letter in the mail within 10 days saying approved or if we need more evidence.

All in all we were at the office for a little less than an hour, and the interview portion was maybe 15 mins, she asked us zero questions outside of the i-485 questions, just address and where I worked now. About 15 mins after, I saw that the Case Statues for i-485 changed to "New Card Being Produced", i-130 still says Case Received though. I was definitely surprised by how quick it was and how she didn't ask any questions really at all. I am proud that I did all the paper work ourselves and did not get one RFE other than the i-944. So green card being produced in 11months exactly, the wait for the EAD was so painful, but there was light at the end of the tunnel.

Good luck to everyone who has interviews soon and please ask me anything!

Don't quote me but I believe the exam is valid for K1 filers for up to a year with your AOS app. There's more info on this in the forum.

My understanding is that the medical exam should have been in the K1 Visa packet you gave to CBP when you arrived on the visa. If so, still valid, and the USCIS officer for the interview understands K1 visas, it should be fine.

Did the City or County have an issue sending you a certified copy?

My interview got scheduled. yay

does anyone know how to find out the date of the interview before receiving the letter in the mail? why don't they show the date of the interview on the website? 😕

Talk with Emma on the USCIS website or call for info. You'll need to speak with a rep.

I talked to Emma and they said they couldn't see the date and that i should wait for the letter, completely unhelpful 😕

also, how do you know that the medical exam collected by CBP is or isn't valid?

I am in the same position, last update on my I-485 is from December when I sent them the now-obsolete I-944. Got my EAD in February. Tried talking to live rep, but was told that it's still being processed, even though they didn't even update my case online after fingerprints were taken.
