Guys, I responded my RFIE (medical exam) one month ago and I haven't heard anything from USCIS yet.

My deadline expires in 20 days, but I'm not sure if they receive my package (I only have the USPS confirmation, not signed).

Is there anything that I can do?

I tried calling USCIS, but it's very hard to speak with a real person there.

Thanks.

Good news! I applied for an expedited work authorization for my husband April 15th, they requested additional documents on April 16th, I sent on April 17th and the request to expedite was approved that same evening! On April 22nd received notice of EAD approval. Finally real movement. So does anyone have an idea on how long will it take for the SS card to be sent?

My husband got his EAD card (not combo unfortunately and no idea why) on 4/16. He called our local SS office the day before and they confirmed a number had been generated and they said they wished they could promise it within 7 days like normal but that we would likely be looking at 2 weeks. So we are hoping we get it by Friday, I'd really like to file taxes hahaha

We called the local SS office today and they told us that a number hasn't been requested for him and it would take 30 days (probably longer). I would've preferred to hear 7 days instead! ugh...my husband started working on the day he got the approval and of course the company needs a SSN for payroll reporting requirements.  Well, I guess we just have to play the waiting game for another month!

Interview experience;

So we had our interview yesterday. It went well for the most part. We were interviewed together. He asked several questions about how and where we met. When my husband moved to his current duty station. Asked how we travel back and forth since I school in another state. He took the deed of the house we bought where I school, life insurance, baby announcement, pictures and bank statement. He asked about the last argument we had but I couldn't remember but my husband remembered. He didn't say whether we were approved or not but he was like an officer would review and they might ask for our baby's birth certificate. This baby doesn't even arrive till August 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️. Then he said it was just a suggestion. We didn't get any papers or anything like people do get but the interview is over atleast.

An hour later:

I-485 shows case was approved

I-130 shows interview was completed and case must be reviewed.

what does that even mean?

I am thinking of doing the same. What documents did they request?

I requested an expedite online through the chat and told them that my husband had a job offer and I wasn't working due to recovering from surgery. They later followed up with the email below requesting additional information

The status of this service request is:

All expedite requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and must demonstrate that one or more of the expedite criteria have been met. The criteria are:

Severe financial loss to a company or person, provided that the need for urgent action is not the result of the petitioners or applicants failure to:
1. File the benefit request or the expedite request in a reasonable time frame, or
2. Respond to any requests for additional evidence in a reasonably timely manner;
Urgent humanitarian reasons;
Compelling U.S. government interests (such as urgent cases for the Department of Defense or DHS, or other public safety or national security interests); or
Clear USCIS error.

Upon receipt of your request for expeditious handling, your case was reviewed and a determination was made that we need additional information to make a decision regarding your request. Please fax proof that your case meets one or more of the expedite criteria

I sent a cover letter explaining our circumstances; the first sentence I referenced the grounds for requesting an expedite and the second paragraph I referenced the job offer and the urgent need to the United States to help in facilitating vaccines to Americans living in our area. I included his offer letter, and medical leave approval email from my job. I didn't send in any bank statements or medical bills. I am pretty sure the biggest driver was that he received an offer to work at COVID vaccine location, which falls squarely into the humanitarian crisis the US is facing.

I have to admit I'm pretty happy he was offered a really good job so quickly! I guess I shouldn't complain :)

Thankfully, his employer will just wait until he gets his SSN, it's just an inconvenience with reporting, the most important thing was having the work authorization.

Thanks for sharing! Did you request expedite via Emma directly? You don't need to wait for a callback for expedited request, right? Thank you!!

Yes, I requested to chat with a live representative via Emma. While chatting with the rep she asked me to write why I needed to expedite. She opened a ticket (I requested the ticket number) about two days later I received the email requesting additional proof.

Very true. My husband was a wrestling promoter back in the UK so I doubt he will be doing the same kind of work here, haha. So he isnt even sure what he wants to do. Hes thinking about trying to go to school.
