what is the covid situation there? Cases down? Is country reopen?

i feel like they are not reopening Africa, Middle East, Asia countries. I’m following Pakistan, where cases are down & the whole country reopened Monday. Yet no sign of embassy

Nigeria has reopen long time ago but they refused to allow international airports to open. Embassy is waiting on that , probably!

what do you mean, Nigeria is open? is everything open, I mean all (including airports). In Pakistan, Intl airports were opened long time, but lockdown was still placed and some business were on limited hours.. This week, they opened all. School is hte only institution that they said, Sept 15.

Canada is pretty much open, even the casino in Montreal is open lol. The only restrictions are the US-CAN land border but airports are operational. I believe they are just delaying it

From what I know, there is a lot immigration cases from Canada & delay is normal. They maybe want to limit that.

In general the Embassy works Monday through Friday but from what I have seen on here most Embassies are only scheduling visa interviews on Tuesdays and Fridays lately.

Yes they ask for originals. So ALL YOUR CIVIL DOCUMENTS (birth, marriage, divorce, police certificates) must be originals and recent (like less than 6 or 3months depending on your country).

As for the documents you uploaded on the CEAC website : have originals as much as you can, but now, with digital versions of administrative documents it is hard to tell what is original and what is not. Better if you have the financial support documents as original as possible (W2, and IRS transcript (federal return transcript)).

Do I need to send an original of death certificate? I never saw the request. It is in USA now.

I would say yes. A death certificate (from a former spouse I assume?) is the proof that your second marriage is legitimate. It is a condition that allowed you to get married again. Maybe other members on VJ would know better ?

*An appeals court ruled on Aug. 12 that the recent order blocking the Trump administration’s PUBLIC CHARGE rules would only apply within New York, Vermont, and Connecticut. The decision follows an earlier that temporarily halted the rule from being enforced nationwide while the United States is under a national public health emergency due to the coronavirus pandemic.

I am sharing this information on a couple of boards, I apologize if it is a duplicate reading to anyone.

Based on today’s video released by the Montreal consulate, they are blaming the Quebec government in restricting them from reopening.

According to the Quebec COVID guidelines, however, the consulate should be allowed to open under the exemption: ” service firms in respect of activities that cannot be carried out through teleworking.  Visa interviews have to be conducted in person. If casinos can be open and gatherings up to 250 people held, there is no reason why the consulate could not be conducting our interviews. https://www.quebec.ca/en/health/health-issues/a-z/2019-coronavirus/reopening-maintaining-economic-activities-covid-19/

I have contacted the below addresses asking for them to allow Montreal to reopen, sharing in case anyone else who is waiting for Montreal to open wishes to do the same:

·         Lodge a complaint with the Quebec: https://www.quebec.ca/en/how-to-reach-us/complaints/

·         Contact Mr. Legault (Quebec Premier): https://www.premier-ministre.gouv.qc.ca/premier-ministre/joindre-pm/courriel/index-en.asp

·         Email for Deputy Prime Minister Freeland:  DPM-VPM@dpmo-cvpm.gc.ca
