If replacing is even possible, they should pick Warren and Sanders, two of which actually champion for low working classes. Bernie may have a few extreme ideas that i don't like i.e. forgiving student loans- he is one of few democrats who are opposed to open borders.

Warren or Sanders would lose in a landslide, imo........I would love to see either as the candidate or VP.....

Didn't Biden already commit to a pick based on race and gender?

I think the only thing he has said was that it would be a woman. Im not sure that they have publicly announced that it must be a black woman.

Think we will ever go back to electing people based on their positions and actions rather than immutable characteristics?

I think you are correct about the woman part, the race would just be the icing on the cake if he chose a minority.

Not in our lifetimes, sadly.  Maybe never?  :(

Not likely.  The Dems have become what they claim to detest and protest.

He didn't promise, but some people are going to be very disappointed if he chooses someone other than a woman of color.

https://nypost.com/2020/06/30/joe-biden-to-pick-woman-of-color-as-running-mate-by-august/

"Joe Biden will choose ‘woman of color’ as running mate by August"

"Joe Biden said Tuesday he had prepared a list of “women of color” for consideration to be his running mate in November — but that he wouldn’t announce a decision until August.

“There are a number of women of color. There are Latino women. There are Asian. There are — across the board. And we’re just under way now in the hard vet of going into the deep background checks that take anywhere from six to eight weeks to be done,” Biden said during a campaign speech in Wilmington, Delaware."

😥😥

I read an article that interviews this black lady and asked why she is not voting for Sanders...and she said because he didn't take time to come to her black church.

Never mind the fact that Bernie sanders is one of the oldest advocates for racial equality and even worked with MLK.

Errrr, Sanders isn't even in the running for VP though.

Anyway, the reality is (as much as I am also unhappy with it) that the big tent of the Democratic Party covers both progressive and "mainstream" members, as well as people further to the center and left of those positions too. There are simply more "mainstream" moderates in the party -- the people who pushed Biden into a first place comeback well before COVID19 -- than there are people who support Warren or Sanders. I'm a Warren supporter, and almost all of my friends and family who are registered Democrats were too. If I were to only look to them, I'd think she would have won in a landslide. But I'm still an outlier, and I accept that. I like Bernie too, he was my second choice after Kamala Harris dropped out, but if Warren was too out there for a lot of people, it's no surprise Sanders was not nominated.

While the majority of the Dem base is mainstream, but the party itself and its positions are more and more controlled by radicals like "The Squad"
