don't know about switching your interview. but you can visit your fiance, just make sure that you can show plenty of ties to Canada-lease/home, job, etc.

met summer 1999, summer 2000 hooked up-whoo hoo summer fling

summer fling failed to fizzle, married 2003

I-130 mailed 12/15/03

4/1/04 no word from NE contacted senators office, app found

NOA1 4/13/04

Gave up on ridiculously long US process-started Canadian

12/4/04 submitted app

LSS app returned because of missed signatures, lost in transit, resubmitted in June

9/28/05 landed, yippie

10/4/05 fly back to US to "finish up Master's" lose mind and switch to PhD

Damn it back to the US process

3/something/2005 finally get NOA2, no idea why it took so long

4/15/07 get case approval from NVC

8/9/07 Montreal here we come

10/14/07 hubby activated his visa

there's always a risk but it wouldnt delay the process or hinder your chances of actually being approved for the visa

officially you can visit for 6 months, but I think you'll probably run into problems at the border if you try to go down for more than a month. that's just a guess. but if you go down longer than a month you'll probably have a hard time proving that you aren't trying to immigrate before you get your visa. The worst that could happen is that you'd be denied entry at the border. Being denied shouldn't affect your visa, just don't ever lie about it.

Even though my fiancee lives only four hours away I haven't went to visit her since last summer. I didn't want to get turned away and even if they let you in, I have heard that it causes an extended FBI check. I wanted to avoid that so just didn't bother going.

My fiance lives 4 1/2 hours away and I go there every one to two weeks for the weekend and I've gone for vacations ect .. I've always been totally honest about where I'm going, who I'm going to see and what stage my application is at.

I carry all of my files for proof and also a letter from my employer, my pay stubs and my phone/cable bill. I have only been pulled over once (just after I received my NOA 2) and I didn't have all of my paperwork with me .. they just told me what to carry and sent me on my way.

Not once have I been denied entry ... POE is the Peace Bridge

I have visited Lorry in WA. on 4 different occasions while the process was ongoing. I just came back on May 12 after being there for 2 1/2 months.

I had no problems at POE on any of the visits. Just the usual questions where you headed, for how long, ever been to the US prior and where.

I brought all my paper work with me along in case they had problems with anything regarding the Visa Petition. Just be honest don't tell em more than they ask info on

Good Luck

What do you mean Toronto is unbearable? where you refused to board a flight to the US at pearson? If you were denied boarding during PFI then you will have to carry more proof of ties to Canada like lease agreements, employment letter, paystubs, utility bills etc. Unless you have these there is a good chance you may be denied again (I am assuming that you were denied once, please let me know if I am incorrect in that assumption)

I visited every 3 weeks prior to and after getting married as well as while my K3 was being processed both at USCIS and the consulate.

I went through YYZ (Toronto airport) each time and was never really given any problems. In fact, the last time the officer wished me good luck at the interview (which was 2.5 weeks away from my last visit) and looked at me sympathetically when he said "it must suck to live apart". Was only asked specific questions about my K3 once and wasn't asked to provide any paperwork and was never pulled into secondary.

Always brought proof of ties: bank statements, apartment lease, letter from employer, pay stubs. Also brought my entire case file each time.
