On the I-944 "Your Household's Assets and Resources", for bank account amounts, should we use the numbers from the most recent statements or the numbers from the current balances?

We have multiple bank accounts.
I know that we need to provide 12 months of statements for every account as evidence either way, but I'm not sure how we decide what number to put on the "amount" section of the form for each account. The instructions don't say anything about this and it seems to me it could go either way.
On the one hand, using the amounts from the most recent statements is more official (all I can do to prove the current balances would be screenshots).
On the other hand, the statements can be pretty outdated (sometimes by weeks, and in the case of one of our accounts, the last statement is thousands of dollars less than the current balance) and our different bank accounts release statements on different days of the month, so we can never get a clear snapshot of our financial situation on a single day that way.
Whatever the case, these are just my thoughts. Obviously we will do whatever we are supposed to, but... how is it SUPPOSED to work? Most recent statements or current balances?
