My fiancé and I began the process of getting his K-1 visa in November. We received the NOA2 in March and since then it has, like everyone else, been at the NVC. We contacted the embassy as the NOA2 was expiring and we received the email below. Are others getting similar messages? Is there anything we can do? The embassy is still closed and the coronavirus cases are on the rise in the city of the interview, but from what we understand the statement about the proclamation is not true.

Also, we completed DS-160, but where do we submit his passport page?

Sorry you received this message and hope they reconsider and grant an earlier appointment. 😪

We are also stuck at NVC as our embassy in Hungary is currently not processing K1 interviews. From what I understand, they are not processing K1 interviews because of the Schengen area travel ban (which does not have a set date). The Proclamation that is set to expire on December 31st is in regards to protecting the US job market from immigrants. Based on this, we are hoping that the proclamation banning travel from the Schengen area may be lifted soon (if coronavirus cases do not increase), and then they will resume K1 interviews.

At least you got an email stating that they will extend your I-129f. My petition is also still stuck at the embassy down in Panama. I tried calling them but all I got was a busy tone. Assuming because they are closed. I tried emailing them asking for an extension and all I get was generic automated emails back. I tried calling the NVC and they said to get in contact with the embassy. Now we are past our expiration date. But from one of the other threads on here, I was told that it doesn’t matter just bring a new letter of intent to marry to the interview and I’ll be fine. I would assume they they have to automatically renew everyone’s I-129f petition because of the pandemic but I hope that’s the case. Otherwise, we are starting over from scratch.
