Next steps after NVC

Currently, our application is just sitting at NVC, with a status of "At NVC". It's been like this for quite some time, but understandable due to COVID.

 

However, just wanted to clarify, there is nothing for us to really do, until status changes to, In Transit/Ready, at which point, we can then fill out a DS-160.

 

Is my understanding correct?

You can fill out DS160 already. As soon as you have invoice and case number

I was wondering the same thing and when I asked on fb they said:

1) you can start getting police certificates because those usually don’t expire for a while (check with your embassy though to be 100% sure when they would expire) 

2) check if you have all your immunizations/vaccinations

Consulate dependent.   You don't mention the where
