Never mind - I just called and they gave me my case number and invoice number. I forgot to ask about the date. Also - they have not sent the packet to Brazil yet

I outline when to do the DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application in my PDF on the first page first post. The DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application can be completed at any time as long as it is before the scheduling of the interview.

Thanks. Do you have a P3 for Brazil or a link to it somewhere?

You should become familiar with your country's sub-forum here on VJ to get a better understanding of the process for the Embassy that you will be interviewing with. This will allow you to get direct answers from those who have completed the steps you are about to take at the US Embassy - Brazil.  Sub-forum for Brazil is located here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/96-mexico-latin-south-america/

This is the Packet 3 (P3) letter from your Embassy.

There is a lot of information on the Embassy for Brazil here https://br.usembassy.gov/visas/frequently-asked-questions-non-immigrant-visas/

A thread were a lot of chatter about the process for the Brazil Embassy and interview

For additional information on the Immigration Visa process and required documents, please refer to your letter or email or visit the Consular Section Website at https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-BR/iv/information/iv_overview.

Brazilian Visa applicant(s) under the age of 14 and Non-Brazilian Visa applicants under the age of 14 do not need to appear in person at the Applicant Service Center (ASC) appointment however they must attend in person the Consular Section interview. The parent must bring the minor child's documentation including a printed photo (A 5 x 5 cm (2 x 2 inches) colored printed photo, taken within the last 6 months and with white background. For additional instructions on photo requirement for the US Department of States, please visit https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/photos.html to the Applicant Service Center on behalf of the child.

https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-BR/iv/information/iv_overviewFrom

The Brazilian interview requires all documents presented at the interview to be originals. The I-134 does not require a "wet" signature.

Rio gives you the option of mailing your passport/visa back to you after the interview, or pick it up when it is ready. The mailing option takes about 14 days and I have seen that sometimes it takes more. So we signed up to go pick it up when ready... IT TOOK 2 DAYS for the passport to be ready for pick up!!! This is a huge help since we are in a time crunch!

If you find anything not up to date or the information is wrong, please share your findings. Please compare the date of the P3 of mine with the date from your copy, once you receive yours from your embassy. Keep in mind that I try and be factual with my information, but I can't do it on my own and that's where you come in and can give back to the community those who come behind you. Without others ahead of you I would not be able to provide this to you.  I can only share factual information if folks like you continue to be my eyes and ears for your embassy. I wish you much success in your visa journey.

Thank you! It’s really nice of you to contribute to the community even after long time you finished the journey. Kudos to you!!

Has anyone's case gotten the "in transit" notice from the Dept. of State? I thought cases stalled at the NVC.

NVC ships the file and yes there are embassies beginning to ask for case files to be sent. The process is moving along but at a different pace for different embassies. Stay connected to CEAC.state.gov and your embassy's website for further updates.

Suppose that's good news. Just got the email from NVC saying it was sent to Helsinki. I guess progress is progress these days.

NVC says they shipped my case to Chile. I used the tips and tricks to try and track it. I think I found it! Says it’s estimated to be here by the 20th of October! I’m so excited!!

Hey all it's been a bit since I last added to the convo. I'm curious about extending the vailidity of the petition. Some unfavorable things have arised for my fiance and I, and we don't think we'll be able to get everything prepared in 3 months. Our approval date was August 6, 2020 and it's almost November. How do I go about asking for an extension? Right now there are no updates since September 15 when the NVC got a hold of my petition.

General question - if the NVC has not sent your packet to the embassy and your 3 month deadline is approaching - do we need to do anything to extend that deadline or will it happen automatically?

If you are referencing your NOA2 expiration date, then consider this.

A fiancé visa must be issued within four months from the date of approval of the fiancé petition by USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services). If your appointment is later then the validity date, bring a signed and dated letter from your U.S. fiancé(e) stating that you both remain legally free to marry and that you intend to get married within 90 days of your arrival. E-mail or copies are acceptable.

9 FAM 41.81 N6.2 Validity of a K-1 Petition
(CT:VISA-2165; 08-21-2014)

An approved K-1 visa petition is valid for a period of four months from the date of USCIS action and may be revalidated by the consular officer any number of times for additional periods of four months from the date of revalidation, provided the officer concludes that the petitioner and the beneficiary remain legally free to marry and continue to intend to marry each other within 90 days after the beneficiary's admission into the United States. You also, should email the embassy and list the subject of your inquiry as NOA2 expiration as it will get their attention. Good luck and stay engaged.
