I think we should first do some online research. Gather as many email addresses for media figures and stations as possible. Post the addresses here. Then, as many of us as possible should write one good email. Send it to each email address. If 50 of us did this it should make a difference and at the least cause some attention. if I didn't have to go to work now, I'd spend some time compiling a list of email addresses for influential media personalities. Perhaps I'll do this later tonight when i get home. Unless someone else beats me to it.

Actually I kind of think that actual letters being written might be a good idea as opposed to just simply emailing anyone.

Hard copies are good, they show real interest, intent, and will not be as easily lost among a pile of crappy TV watchers who just want to rant and rave about how much they suck or whatever.

Email is just faster and easier to duplicate infinitely. And you can send them over and over and over again. Daily even.

That may be true to some extent, but a well written letter sent directly into the hands of the right newscaster might make all the difference in the world too.

Let me just print out bszoom's list and show it to people and they will be astounded, heh.

I'm in too!

By the way, some of you may have seen my earlier post on this issue. Basically USCIS setting some artificially inflated 6 month goal is not satisfactory to us, their customers and law abiding citizens of the US. We are customers trying to get a service done in a timely manner and are paying for it. Their service is unsatisfactory and I do not agree with waiting for 6mo to ask for help. What do we do next if they set their "goal" for 1 year? Wait for 1 year to complain. By the way, as you can see below from another forum member, their service is getting worse for people even after getting the NOA2. Again, unacceptable. I posted his post and then my original one below. We need a letter in the form of a petition as described by those who have taken the lead in developing it and it needs to go to as many politicians and news outlets as possible to get the support necessary to get good service. As far as news outlets, it could read something like, "Law Abiding Citizen Examples Show Why many Resort to Entering the US illegally."

Posted by TMB81 in another forum area:

The waiting never ends!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am still waiting for my case to be sent to the NVC this Thursday will be four weeks since my approval. I spoke with the USCIS and they told me it can take up to 90days. What a bunch of BS, our tax dollars hard at work.

And my original post below:

Greetings all:

I just want to comment on the slow processing times that some have tried to make "sense" of. I will not for one second attempt to rationalize for USCIS' terrible customer service. That is what it boils down to is poor customer service regardless of circumstances leading to the issue. If it were a private business giving these turnaround times, it would be out of business in no time. It is another example of a Government agency providing poor service. How long are American citizens going to stand for it? Look at most of our state DMVs. Look at the stories people tell of dealing with most Government run organizations. This is also what drives a movement to outsource or privatize Government jobs. It is not like we are being provided this service out of the goodness of anyone's hearts. We are paying for a service and should be provided a quality and timely service. We are a nation of freedom and many of us have served our country in the military and in other ways, and some have lost their lives to protect our great nation. It is ludicrous that in a nation of free people we cannot be together with those we love in very little time. While we try to follow the laws to get our loved ones into the country legally, tens of thousands easily slip in illegally. If the problem is employees, they should hire more. If the problem is money, they should allow us the option to pay more to get first class service and be together with our loved ones. I am tired of excuses. They set this inflated 6 month standard, which in and of itself is excessive to begin with. How about the turnaround time the customers want? I know I have to meet my customer desires/requirements every day, so should they...and I am not talking about some inflated 6 month standard. They should all be forced to be apart from their loved ones for 6-12mo to see what it is like...

I AM SOOOOOOOOO VERY PROUD TO FIND PEOPLE WILLING TO STAND UP TO DO SOMETHING NOW.

1.) Media attention is the BEST idea......but, I wrote to CBS and Oprah and a few other outfits, but no response. Maybe my one letter didn't do the trick. Let's compile a list of reputable news people to contact.

2.) Postal letters and e-mail and faxes all at once is what I propose-->to USCIS, DHS and our Senators.

Here is a draft of the letter I started; don't know where "Mrs." is......but, I appreciate any and all feedback, constructive feedback. We should finalize something soon though. Thanks, W

Attn: Dr. Emilio T. Gonzalez, Director

Dear Dr. Gonzalez:

I am one of many United States Citizens perplexed by the extensive delays in processing of K-1 and K-3 visas at USCIS’ Vermont Service center.

When I began this process I was pleased to find that my application would be processed through the Vermont Service center as I had heard that this particular center processes petitions quickly and efficiently. Lately, this had not been the case.

I am a member of an on-line community whose members share information and experiences related to immigration. We have been closely following the changes that USCIS has undergone, including a substantial rate increase in the fees associated with processing of applications and petitions. While I understand the need for fee increases and some restructuring at USCIS (training prioritizing the processing of applications and not others, etc.) to create a more efficient and customer friendly organization/agency, there are several issues of concern shared by many of us that we would like addressed. It is obvious to us that since June 2007, things at USCIS appear to have gotten worse instead of better. My concerns include:

1.) Significant delays in the processing of petitions. Many of us who filed in June (to this present date) are noticing that a VERY small number of petitions have been approved. Many of us are close to the 90 day mark in waiting for a decision on our petition. Some of us are receiving RFE’s long after NOA 1, thereby re-starting the clock. According to data compiled over the past few years, VSC processes K-1’s in an average of ____ days and K-3’s in an average of ___ days.

2.) Many of us have not received a notice of receipt (NOA 1), even though the On-line Case Status confirms the receipt of our applications.

3.) Information provided by your out-sourced call center employees is often misleading, incorrect or incomplete.

4.) Prioritizing WORK visa applications over Family-Based, Non-Immigrant Petitions

Dr. Gonzalez, I understand that Immigration Benefits are a privilege and not a right, but as a United States citizen, I deserve accurate information AND the opportunity to have my concerns addressed by an knowledgable official who can give me the FACTS (not in-accurate time estimates and scripted misinformation designed to appease nervous callers). Only the truth and some swift action on the part of USCIS can alleviate some of the stress associated with this process. My life is on hold at the moment as I am separated from my loved one and I have no idea when this first part of the immigration process will conclude. The strain of this process (financial and emotional) is taking a heavy toll on my well-being. My frustration level with USCIS' inability or unwillingness to ease this process is reaching a critical point.

something here about our expectations re: an answer and some sort of formal response.

We can tailor this letter for Senators, etc. and do a mass mailing/fax and e-mail campaign.

What do you think? Too emotional, not personal enough?

I think this is a *wonderful* start. I'd be very pleased to add my name to this and send it along wherever it needs to get sent. Also, I don't think it's too emotional or personal, but I wouldn't make it any more so than it already is.

As you said, what's needed is to add our expectations, and I think this should be about how we want INFORMATION in general. As has been stated, we don't want to be asking about our particular cases, but how we want the Service Center to provide us with updates and not keep us in the dark.

I also would be wary of mentioning the 90-day mark. For one, many people have waited longer that and are still counting days. More importantly, though, they have their damn 6-month thing, so I would think not mentioning 90 days specifically, but instead saying how we are waiting and have no updates or information as to why things to do seem to be progressing.

Something like that.

Thanks U.S. Wendy, what a great start!

All of these ideas are great, as well as the letter from U.S. Wendy. Thanks.

One thought I had though is this. Instead of all of us sending individual letters to media and our congressmen/women why not write one letter and all of us sign it. Having many names on it will carry much more weight. It'll make it that much more noticeable. Instead of a desperate plea of a single person (even if there are many letters they still all just individual people) it would be a real call from an organized group.

Just my 2 cents.

Congratulations to N&M, who reported today that their K-1 was approved on 9/13.

They were not on Zoomer's list because they did not join VJ until 9/15.

They sent their petition on 5/11 and their NOA1 was dated 5/16. Approval came 125 days after they mailed their package and 120 days from their NOA1.

There is no evidence of an RFE.

This approval is the reason why Byron's adjudication date was pushed back a day. The same happened to me.

Hey Guys-

I think everyone getting together is a good idea. I don't know if anyone is from the Boston area, but Hank Phillipi Ryan does a lot of news investigations and hard stories. Here is the link to some information about her. She might be a good person for anyone to contact. Just an idea! :help:
