Hmmmm, 4 and a half hours left, and I'll be back on the plane to London. Boy I'm miserable. Fi has been at work all day, so I'll only get a couple of hours with him. I know I've been really lucky - we've just had two great weeks together. Only a few days left for you Tasha! I hope you're ready for the heat - wear sunscreen, FI and I are both burnt and peeling as we went to South Carolina for a week! Now I start the next countdown - he is coming to England in 7 weeks! I'm stressed out about the wedding though - our caterer fell through, so I'm back to square one there. OK, better pack, good luck everyone! Lisa

Packet 3 received - Feb 7th 2008

Packet 3 returned - Feb 8th 2008

Opinion post....

Do you think it would be crazy of me to book February 23,2008 for our wedding day?? Approvals seems to be taking right around 90-120 days - and on the forms that go to the embassy in the SO's country it says have you made travel arrangements, set wedding dates etc. Also, the lady i am in contact with at the Embassy in Syria told me to let her know as soon as i've gotten approval and she'll keep an eye out for his file. Should I trust all of this?

My mom and I went to look at a few places today and they all say hurry and book before there is nothing left. I am afraid that if i don't book we'll get approved and i'll be having my wedding at some VFW (no offense to those who are going that route, its just not our style). But i'm afraid if i do book it'll be february before we even get our NOA2.

Also - i guess this question is for Zee - your the only one who is semi local i've noticed - Have you begun looking around for reception sites - just wondered what the per head cost has been for you if you have. We saw two places today both seemed to be comparable in price - not in atmosphere tho - around 70-75 dollars per head - including open bar and one of them even a chocolate fondue fountain with every fruit imaginable, drink fountain, and cake from a well known well respected baker in the area.

I think i'm going to take a break and send some pics to print - Snapfish has a sale today and tomrorow yet on digital picture developing for just 9 cents a pic - enter the coupon code Cloud9 when ordering!!

Have a great nite everyone! If we can't look forward to approvals - we can certainly look forward to the weekend!

December 31, 2006 - I call to wish him a Happy New Year (It was 3 am his time)

May 14, 2007 - Fly to Syria with my family to meet

May 18, 2007 - His entire family comes to my house to ask for my hand - I say YES!

June 15, 2007 - We get engaged in the church and have a reception for our families (it's the only "wedding" his family will see)

June 22, 2007 - I come back to the US

June 24-July 27,2008 - lots of research on VJ and work on gathering the papers needed...

July 31, 2007 - I-129F package received by VSC - YAY!!!! I was sooo excited getting the return receipt in the mail - on my way out to look for bridesmaids dresses :) Now all I need is a case number so I can track online - I'm so anxious!!!

August 13, 2007 - NOA1 - YAY!!!

JANUARY 8, 2008 - APPROVED!!!!

May 14, 2008 - he's finally here

June 22, 2008 - "Wedding Bells"

August 7 - Adjustment of Status and EAD sent

August 11 - Dates of both NOA1 for AOS and EAD

and we wait....

September 4, 2008 - Biometrics appt in Phila for both AOS and EAD

If VSC is taking an average of 3 months from NOA to NOA2 you whould expect to see yours around the middle of November, right? And if you've already got someone looking out for your file...I dunno, if you're a risk taker I'd say go for it. It would stink to have to reschedule everything if you're not approved by then, but it would also stink to not have anything booked and have to wait for an opening or get married some place you don't want to.

I've read on here somewhere that you're not supposed to make any arrangements ahead of time, but I think that might have just with the information about the London Embassy, so it might no apply to you.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

If you can share any of that kind of info I'd like to know...

I mean, honestly, we haven't started making any plans yet, because the way I see it...there's no point to schedule all sorts of stuff if you don't even have your approval NOA2.

On the London Embassy website it says that sometimes they can make make special arrangements to schedule interviews faster if you have proof of arrangments you've already made, but that it's not guaranteed and they recommend holding off on making those arrangements.

I'll post the link to the exact info as soon as I find it :P .

Congratulations, Zee!

VSC's average is currently 108 days, which is about 3 1/2 months, and unfortunately, that number is currently growing. As was stated in the July Filers forum, you have 180 days to enter the country + 90 days thereafter to get married, a total of 9 months, which is plenty of time to plan a wedding. I realize no one wants to wait that whole 9 months to be with their fiance, but it is a window of time. My personal opinion is that it would be smart to wait for the NOA2, then book plans.

Yes, I think it would be VERY foolish to book a February wedding. Why paint yourself into that corner? At least wait a while and see how the rate of processing looks 30 days from now.

I think it is a big mistake to assume that current average processing times will hold for anyone who filed after May. At this time the rate of approvals is horrible. Maybe it will improve soon, but maybe not. My advice is to wait and see before you make any committments.
