Senator Jim Webb

Virginia

Dear Senator Jim Webb,

My name is Lora Pauley Heflin and I have lived in Northern Virginia for most of my life. I have been so very proud to be from Virginia and to be an American. I have travel extensively doing medical mission work and have taken many exchange students from around the world into my home. In December of 2005 I was in Quito, Ecuador visiting one of those exchange students when I met who I wish to become my future husband. After many visits and hours of chats and countless emails I applied for a K1 Visa from the Vermont Service Center. They recieved the application on June 5 2007 and I recieved a NOA1 on June 10, 2007. As I write you on November 20 it has been 170 days....10 days from a full 6 months and no answer from USCIS. I have 3 request from you with this letter...1. to request information as to the status of my individual case and 2. to look into the matter of irregularities in adjudicating K1 visas ie out of order and extremely slow processing and 3. the extremely bad customer service that is recieved by petitioners by USCIS ie bad information, misinformation, or outdated information. Thank you for your attention to this matter for me. I am attaching a copy of the certified letter I mailed to Mr Paul Novak, Director VSC and my personal information on my own visa application. I hope that during the next legislative session that possibly some inquiry can be done on this situation and resolution to improving the USCIS processing of family based visas can be streamlined and improved.

Right. I get asked that too. Uh, maybe because you don't want to live your life that way and constantly worry. The thing about this process is that if you are not involved in it you really have no idea of all the bits and pieces. I told everyone at Thanksgiving to not ask me about anything with the word visa in it. Otherwise I will be eating Turkey in my car.

:lol::lol::lol:

I think that was a good way to handle it.

Thank God we don't have Thanksgiving cause I will do the same thing!!! :lol: :lol:

Tell Pat that his being sure does not help and to go find the receipt! Also, depending on who he used, they might be able to identify the shipment based on some other information. Some of the delivery companies can do that.

How did you send it? Can't you track it or obtain proof of delivery?

Bill, that is what I asked Pat, he send it overnight, he got a receipt but he was in a big rush at work, skipped work to go the post office, ran back to work again and he doesn't remember where he put it! But he says that it has to be there!!! He is positive he wrote the right address and they must have it since VT is 3 hours from NY!!!

It's possible that if he paid with a debit/credit card the post office might be able to provide the reciept number.

Really!!??? Darn!!! Thanks for your help!! I had not idea that could be possible. I'm gonna ask him but I don't know why I have the feeling he paid cash..... :wacko: :wacko: I'm gonna ask hi anyways...

He's birthday is on sunday and THANKS FOSSIL for ruin my delivery gift!!!! They said the couldn't process my order but they charged me 3 times, my bank blocked the card, we had to do a 3 way call to cancel everything and it seems that I can't use my card for two days...I'm gonna try with another one today but even if I send it overnight I don't think he will get it by friday, I will be lucky if they delivery it on saturday.....!!!!
