I noticed on the RFE thread that someone received an RFE for a translated copy of the beneficiary's birth certificate. Here is the post.

Did anyone submit that with their I-129F? I didn't.

Maybe they ask for that if there is some confusion about the identity of the beneficiary or there is a bad guy/girl name match they are trying to clear up.

That would be me. Yes, they asked for her b.c. We don't know why, but I've seen it happen to a few people on here from time to time.

It wasn't for the interview...we are still at the CSC waiting for the approval of our petition. Like they picked something out of hat and that is what they decided to RFE us for.

I seen a few other people that had this same thing happen. Like I said in another post, had we known in the beginning, we would have just sent it in.

Well you got your NOA2 remember. We are still sitting at the CSC where they requested it. I think it is needed at AOS, someone correct me if I am wrong.

They received the RFE for not sending a translated copy of the beneficiary's birth certificate. I sent my fiancee's because I had read that sometimes people get RFE's for not sending it. I wanted to be safe. I would not worry about it at this point in time. Good luck!

Yep...I wish we would have done the same or we would have been approved by now. Oh well. Hopefully people will read this at some point and decide to be safe and send their fiance(e)'s translated b.c. in too.

As far as I know Bogota does not require the beneficiary's birth certificate to be translated for the interview as long as it is in english or spanish.

However, Jamie received the RFE for a translated beneficiary birth certificate during the I-129F adjudication phase, so his situation is different than your's Byron. You have already cleared that hurdle.

I still think that there must be a unique situation that prompts USCIS to request the beneficiary's birth certificate. I also don't think that the translation is a key factor here. Any non english document submitted to USCIS must be translated.

I was advised to send a translated beneficiary bc with the petition by a non VJ "advisor". However, there was not enough time to obtain if we wanted to beat the price increase and I could find no documentation on VJ that said it was required so I submitted without it.

No clue what that reason was. I had thought of something though. In Thailand, everyone goes by nicknames...and some have the exact same nickname. On some of the e-mails/letters I got from her, she used her nickname...one of her e-mail addresses also uses her nickname.
