I mean, you're further along than I am, but from what I've seen this should be your month. You two will get an approval soon, I'm sure of it. Have you ever heard of a trick you can use with USCIS? searching for cases? If you know what each number in your receipt number stands for, you begin to see there's a system encoded. Knowing what this number means and how they are issued will give you an advantage. You'll be able to get a better idea of how far you really are from an approval. i'm still too far off to begin this nifty trick, but while I was waiting for an approval of a CR-1 visa 2 years ago, I used it and narrowed it down to the exact day. ;)

No no no, this is very different. No phone needed, just your PC. You have a receipt number, right? Well, it looks something like this...

EAC-09-264-52393 (just an example)

The first set of letters stands for the service center. Some say WAC or EAC, etc. The first set of numbers is the year. The second set is the day of the year. cant go higher than 365, right? The last 5 digits are the actual case number. though, I think the first digit in that 5 digit strand is for the petition type. been a long long time since I did this. When you go to the USCIS website, you usually just login to your account probably. Instead, go to "search for case". Not sure if you need to be logged in for this. i dont think so. Give a quick search for your petition. You'll get the same message that you already have in your portfolio, your NOA1. This is where it gets tricky. BE ADVISED...there was rumor a few years ago that this trick was not appreciated by USCIS. But as far as I can see there is nothing wrong with searching for cases. There's no personal info given. But I repeat, BE ADVISED. Do this only at your own risk.....

Now, if you play with the case numbers a bit you'll begin to get a feel for what you're doing. Try changing the day numbers, making that number lower a bit. You can also tweak the case numbers. Its like making a prank call. You know what the local calling code is , you just need to guess the last 4. understand? Eventually you will see other petitions that have been filed and are in the process. You'll find a line where it seems that most I-129f's before this xxxx date were finalized. and you'll get an idea of where they (case workers) are. As a rule, i never searched more than 2 or 3 different case number guesses in one sitting. I dont know that it is wrong, but am too scared to find out. I dont want to raise any kind of alert to their system. I cant remember what was said here on VJ about this back in 2005, but I do remember the group opinion being that it was safe until otherwise stated. I did this a few times everyday for 2 months. And I was able to narrow it down to the exact date more than 5 weeks in advance! no kidding. Sure, most of it was just an educated guess, but the tools were there. If anyone knows anything about this, please give me some feedback.

By the way, once you've found a similar petition that is a week or so ahead of yours, you can add it to your portfolio. You'll see when that petition gets approved and know that yours is only days away from results! ;) I had ten cases from other people in my portfolio at one time, just monitoring automatically. It was great. but I was nervous that it was somehow wrong. Though, LIKE I SAID, no personal info was given. So how is it wrong?? i dont know. You be the judge.

Sounds silly to me. That does absolutely nothing. That is what the timelines here on VJ are for.

And NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT, cases are NOT adjucated by case #. Why??? Well, that is why some people that have filed weeks after you get approved before you for no apparent reason. The cases are reviewed like first come first serve basis.

According to this theory of yours, case WAC000000001 will be reviewed first, then case WAC000000002 and so on. Which is false.

People, dont F' around with a govt website. It's not like they dont know everyone's IP and MAC addresses that visit the page. HELLO, its the Department of Homeland Security.

That's your opinion and you are entitled to stay in the dark. I didnt say that each case was processed in exact order. Its an estimate and it does work. Why would it be wrong to search random cases? I don't doubt they know everything they wish to know about people using their website. If you have nothing to hide, what's the harm? And there ARE reasons that some cases are approved more quickly, or out of order. But for the most part they are done in order. You dont have to believe me, was only giving out info. Just relax and go back to waiting in the dark.

Doing that does no good.

Then again, if it were that important the gov't would probably take steps to ensure the wrong people don't get the info.

Or not.

Anyway this is NOT the RFE trick someone mentioned...that's calling the service center and pretending you have an RFE and was already discussed in this topic around the end of June/ early July.

Divorced. To hell with him.

Observations:

  • K1 applications are processed much faster than K3's.
  • It is difficult to identify any trend patterns for K3 applications.
  • So far there is no evidence of a spike of July applications from Visa Journey members to beat the fee increase.
  • Processing times have increased significantly since January, 2007. K3 applications submitted in February are the only exception to this.
  • So far May 2007 K1 processing times are shorter than April 2007, but it may be too soon to make many conclusions. Since a lot of April and May petitions have not been adjudicated yet, processing time for both will ultimately be greater than is shown now.
  • In 2006 K1 processing time increased every month starting in January, peaked in Aril and then trended downward the rest of the year. There is no guarantee 2007 will follow the same pattern.
  • Despite the perception that VSC processing has slowed, the 2007 K1 processing time is the same or less than it was in 2006 when compared to the same month. It is too early to determine if May, June and July will follow this pattern.
