Byron, i feel you on that calling them can be very depressing. Mel called yesterday and they still keep on saying that we were in that 60 days time frame. They told him that if we don't hear anything a day after the 60 days which will be Dec 2. we should call back.

I want to send a bit of admiration (and a few hugs - or maybe bottles of vodka ;) ) your way, Mel & Syl - you've been waiting longer than almost anyone I've seen lately, yet you don't make a big fuss about it, you just carry on... and you're always so encouraging of everyone else

you're doing so well :)

don't think it's not noticed :)

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

Thank you very much for your nice words StillThePrettiest!

Being sure that all this is worth it gives me the strengh to endure the stress and carry on. I know we all gone be with our loved ones very soon. VSC think that they can break us? NO WAY!! We are all strong enough to overcome this, we even deserve a price for going through all this. Yes, it is our choice but who can tell how the Love-thing goes? No one and therefor VSC you can kindly kiss my black butt, we'll all get our approvals.

Good luck to everyone and much love from Germany!

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.

OKay, so I contacted Vermont via e-mail and here is the reply I recieved. Yes they are clearly working on June K1's at last!

Mr. Hill –

As you indicate, this is a relatively small amount of data.  For example, in August and September the Vermont Service Center received over 4,300 fiancée. That’s over 100 fiancée per business day.

Right now the center is actively working fiancée petitions received on June 4th, which is slightly ahead of our 6 month goal. That’s the goal we put on our website to help customers set their expectations both before they file, and while their case is pending.  Of course some older cases are still being worked that have issues with respect to missing documentation, where we have had to ask for additional material, or where there are substantive background or other issues. I can’t comment on the cases you listed, but it’s quite possible that some of the pending cases have such issues.

As I indicated before, we recognize the circumstances of fiancée petitions, and each petitioner’s intense interest in getting their case processed so their fiancée may apply for a visa to come here to marry. To be fair to everyone we do work to process these cases in strict order. There are limited exceptions where a case may be processed more quickly, for example where we use a case for training purposes. Similarly we do give a somewhat higher priority to the K-3 variation of these petitions filed along with an I-130 relative petition since in essence we consider the duplicative K-3 petition an expedite request. To handle the volume also means we move several days or several weeks work being actively processed by our officer staff at any given time, which can lead to s slight variation in processing times among individual cases.

I hope this helps.

Looks like the fantasy that processing time would revert back to what it was in the good old days is out the window. With a July 28th receipt date, I think sometime in January is the best I can hope for now. :(

Yeah, I was wondering that exact same thing.

Still though, a very helpful response! At least we can guess fairly certainly that those freak 30 day approvals are due to training new staff.

Here's some more numbers I received from my second email:

For example, in August and September the Vermont Service Center received over 4,300 fiancée petitions and over 22,000 relative petitions. That’s over 100 fiancée petitions and 500 relative petitions per business day. To handle that volume means we distribute it among a significant number of our employees.

Yikes! That's a lot of petitions!

But still, if they are working on the neighborhood of June 4 right now...it's only November 8th. That is, in fact, still ahead of schedule for 'normal' petitions.

Yes, we all feel bad for Byron and Mirla, it sucks so hard for them...but we cannot forget they *did*, crappy is it may be, get RFE's, so their cases are different.

Billy, ( :P ) I wouldn't completely give up hope that we aren't approved sometime in December, not yet. If they are working on June filers now, they are in a 5 month window. December is our 5 month window, even though our NOA1's are toward the end of the month...let's be hopeful! We can still mathematically be approved before the first of the year!

...Of course, this entire time I've been planning on Amy coming back next year anyway, so that won't really make a difference, but if I can see at least an approval at or around Christmas, I'd be thrilled.

Stay strong everyone, VSC *is* in fact moving again!
