OMG!! How disgusting!!! I just read all hte comments and I'm shocked! How can someone make this kind of comments without even knowing us and where we are coming from.....Unbelievable there are still people like them left. They need to go get a life and a new brain.

What hate comments? I can't find them....

Go to the article on the Washington Post website. That is where all these ignorant comments are.

"Ms. Brown and her intended's age gap is significant. Why would a young kid want to take up with someone 17 years older?"

Maybe because she looks as good as Demi Moore?

Nice comments everybody:-)

HAHAHA.. VJ'ers are flaming all the posters right now. This is fun.

Ummmmm, it might be fun, but the REAL potential is that the fighting will be carried from that site (which is less moderated) to this one. Especially if things get nasty over there. I'd hate to have to wade through exponentially more Trolls to get the value from VJ.

Just a thought.

And don´t take these people too seriously ;) They are probably very unhappy with their own lives so they are trying hard to ruin other people´s lives...so we won´t let them :dance::dance: For example I had to tell someone to this person on this What is the worst they have done thread  He obviously has something against people who talk to each other on internet (and still goes on internet to express himself) :P

Pursuit of Fiance Visas Leads Lovelorn to Bond Online

By Karin Brulliard

Washington Post Staff Writer

Monday, October 29, 2007; Page A01

This is what love has done to Wendy Brown: She's lost weight, resumed smoking and all but decided to move to the Balkans to be with her Albanian fiance. And each night, she spends hours in her cozy Baltimore apartment mingling online with strangers who are equally fixated on the same topic: getting their soul mates through the U.S. immigration system.

"We are both devastated," Brown, 38, wrote last spring on VisaJourney.com, reporting that the U.S. Embassy in Albania had denied her fiance a visa. She also posted a list of the questions the fiance was asked at his interview. "I'm going to keep fighting and fighting until we get what we both want more than anything in the world. . . . and that is to be together." Many people are frustrated with the immigration process and its long lines and opaque applications that, if misinterpreted, can send a case back to square one. Perhaps none are more ardent than the growing ranks of U.S. citizens applying for fiance and spouse visas, who say their passion is driven by a sense that their own government is fighting them and by the fear that delays or denials might spell the end of a romance.

...I wish people would realize that not everyone wants to jump at the chance to move to America. Our fiances are sacrificing a lot by leaving the country they have most likely grown up in. Still the Prettiest, I think you are from Australia right? So maybe you understand just how far away it is moving to America.

yes, you are absolutely right there... and I've already done a big international move: just over three years ago I resigned from a (good) job, sold my car, and let the apartment, to move to London... so I know what's entailed, and I'm REALLY not looking forward to doing it again, specially to a place where, as I said above, I wouldn't really choose to live, if I had all my first options

I can't work out which is going to be better: going somewhere I really loved, but completely on my own, or going somewhere I'm a bit indifferent to, but to be with the man I love :D

well done all you VJers on standing up to the brain-dead granite heads making stupid comments on the WP site!!

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

I am really down on this today. I just booked my million dollar flight to England for Christmas. I wasn't expecting to celebrate Christmas there because I thought my fiance would be here by now. Depressing.... It will be 6 months while I am in England. With the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday approaching, things will get even slower at VSC. :crying:

Im the same...we are planning another visit in January.

Here is my latest post over on the washington post sight if anyone is interested:

sljeme: H1 Visas are not for students thats the J visa and they are NOT unlimited. As a student one MUST pay for the first year of school IN FULL WITH enough money left to pay for living expenses. They are NOT allowed to work the first year and MUST live on campus. The J1 student exchange is much easier for a period of 3 summer months to work and one for travel. The student must show funds to support themselves before they ever come as well as have valid reasons to return to their country (enrolled for the next year). Don't minimize how easy it is to get ANY visa. The red tape is awful, my issues personally is that the FAMILY unit seems to be a LOW priority while others are approved in 60 days or less. The problem is the HUGE slow down we've experienced over the last 6 months. VSC USED to be the fastest..NOW we are LUCKY to see 15 approvals a MONTH at VJ. Thats just sad.

How would you like to work but NOT get paid. Be promised a paycheck, but no one can tell you when you will exactly recieve it. In the meantime bills pile up. You wait. EVery time to go to HR you get a different answer and no one can say what is going on with your check. Now granted its not the same as appling for a visa...but how would you FEEL. Aggrivated? Tired of waiting? Frustrated that no one knows anything? Angry at the wrong answers? Would it impact your family? Finally...would you want ME to start second guessing WHY your company is holding your pay? Maybe you just didnt do a good enough job.

Please...stop and THINK how this process affects the many of us waiting BEFORE you start judging. Think of how YOU"D feel...its not a matter of you approving of our decisions. WE dont need ANYONES approval on who to marry...but we do expect you as fellow Americans to think of how we feel.
